Is Showtime original programming better than HBO now?

I just watched season 1 of Dexter, and I'm midway through season 1 of Weeds. Netflix recommended "Huff", which looks interesting, too. On the HBO side, though, there doesn't seem to be that much out there. Entourage (obviously) rocks, but it's getting repetitive. Big Love is pretty smart writing, but I don't know of anything else that is still in production (check out the series listing - much of it has been off the air for a while).

While Showtime's production value isn't as glamorous as HBO's, their writing seems to be much better these days.

What do you think?

Was Huff the Hank Azaria show? I heard that wasn't too great.

I've only seen a few episodes, but The Tudors seems pretty solid as well.

Cable seems to be putting out some pretty solid programming across the board. USA, F/X, TNT, and, under the radar some, SciFi.

Don't forget "The Bronx is Burning" on ESPN. Best drama on T.V. in the last ten years. And I'm not being sarcastic either. Oliver Platt AND John Turturro. AND the dad from The Wonder Years.

You know what else is good? "Alice" reruns on ION. Vick Tayback is fantastic. He's William Frawley good. And the middle aged guy with glasses that delivers the zingers about how bad the food is has great comic timing.

SS is going to ban you now. But I am laughing heartily.

Why, does Disney own HBO?

Yeah, that's it. I only know what Netflix tells me ("We think you would like this!"). I put it in the queue, and I'll give it a shot.

I'd be happy if TV Land would put Night Court on. I loved that show!
Most of my favorite shows have been on the big networks. Chuck on NBC, Bionic Woman on NBC, House on Fox, and I started getting into Ghost Whisperer a bit. Probably just because I like looking at Jennifer Love Hewitt's jugs...:D
