Redskin Rich 03-24-2008, 03:49 PM We need a kicker and we should use our first round pick on one Either that or trade it for Payten Maning. and since we need a nother reciever for to be a endzone threat we should trade our second round pick for Mike Vrabel since he catches alot of touch downs.
SmootSmack 03-24-2008, 03:53 PM I didn't get the impression the OP was stating he knew more than the average fan. I took his points as his personal observations and nothing more. You can agree or disagree.
However, you guys got hung up on one miniscule mistake and ran with it. Like having one more playoff win in 10 years really makes a difference. He conceded that one specific point. You win. Good for you.
I have no problem calling out people when they make outrageous statements or assertions. I don't get the need for mocking people. Maybe you guys are just bored today.
Well, he could have just said "Hey you know, you're right. I missed that. It's two wins, not one" and the response would have been much different. But instead he started spewing this bs about when Snyder "officially took over" instead of just owning up to his mistake right off the bat. It's like the people who say "We're so awful, we never keep our own players!!!" and then you point out guys like Betts, Sellers, Rock, Cooley, etc and they say "Yeah, well, let's see if they do it again this year and the next."
We've all made mistakes, been proven wrong, and corrected on more than one occassion. And the site is better because of it. But admitting fault seems to be a real problem for a lot of people. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times the whole point of a message board isn't really to let the world know how much knowledge you have but to get more knowledge out of it than when you first joined. There's nothing wrong with being wrong, it happens to all of us. It's why I started the whole "I Was Wrong When..." thread, so people wouldn't be so afraid to admit when they're wrong.
SmootSmack 03-24-2008, 03:54 PM Just that a lot of Redskins fans want to do the wave in the fourth quarter of a close game when our offense is on the field, and don't seem to understand some of the basic rules and game-management issues that occur during a game. Again, I'm not saying that I'm an NFL encyclopedia. These are just observations I've made and, to me, they run counter the reputation of being "knowledgeable" fans.
Is this thread then more about "stadium etiquette"?
Actually 70-79 is correct when counting in the playoffs.
Well, I'm glad I something right here! :silly:

I later admitted that I got the dates wrong.

It's a combination of that and just observations I've made.
Monkeydad 03-24-2008, 03:58 PM In general the internet allows more people to have a voice than ever before. The majority of fans in the 80's could have been a bunch of slack jawed yolkles but you hardly ever got to hear them because they could only talk with other idiots in the room or call into to the radio after the game. Now we have a chance to read every little asinine thought that enters someone's mind as soon as they think it up.
I think the fan base for every team seems to have been dumbed down because of this.
Plus, if want to hear a bunch of idiots trying to talk about football you should come up here to Baltimore and take a listen to the majority of ravens fans.
I was also going to say the internet happened.
The internet has enabled stupid people worldwide to be noticed.
SmootSmack 03-24-2008, 03:58 PM Look KB, I'm not trying to knock you. I'm just saying, trust me on this, you'll earn a lot more respect in the long run here if you stay honest and humble.

Duly noted. And I'm sorry. It wasn't my intent to act like an Einstein here. I was making some observations and maybe I didn't express them the way I should have.
