This is a GOOD reason why we shouldn't touch a WR in the 1st.

The 1996 NFL draft will forever be known as "The Year of the Receiver." Future NFL stars Marvin Harrison, Terrell Owens, Joe Horn, Terry Glenn, Keyshawn Johnson, Eddie Kennison, Eric Moulds, Mushin Muhammad, Amani Toomer and Bobby Engram were all selected over the same weekend back in April of '96.

'Eleven years later, nine of those 10 players were on NFL rosters in '07, with only Keyshawn — the top pick overall in that draft — not suiting up on Sundays. Johnson, of course, spent Sundays last season in Bristol, Conn., working as an analyst for ESPN.

Want to know about the next generation of NFL stars? We've got you covered as the clock ticks down toward the 2008 draft. Last year's draft class of receivers proved to be somewhat bountiful as well. No. 2 overall selection Calvin Johnson had a promising rookie campaign, fellow first-rounders Dwayne Bowe, Ted Ginn, Craig Davis and Anthony Gonzalez were all solid contributors, and later-round picks Steve Smith, Sidney Rice and James Jones all played significant roles on some of the NFC's top teams. Add in the intriguing prospect of productive second years from 2007 rookie flops Robert Meachem and Dwayne Jarrett, and that's a pretty solid batch of receivers.'

Another good reason:
we need to draft a DB in the first round b/c thats what we need most.

Vinny Cerrato siad, that he does not think that there is a reciever, in this draft, that is worth a first round draft choice. Maybe, he is just trying to throw other teams off, but that is what he said.

i dont think there isn't really a corner worth drafting the first round except maybe cromarties cousin...we should've went after Randall Gay or maybe even deangelo hall for a second rounder.

Well I'd draft an impact d-lineman in the first if there were good ones available, but if he's still on the board I would love to see DRC in a 'Skins uni. I think a tall WR should be a priority in the second round though provided some of the bigger names are still available.

Mike Jenkins from USF will be a shutdown corner in 2-3 years.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, corners. Alright time for my latest bunch of propoganda.

Safetys are the new corners. For now I'll just keep it simple. Who has done more for their respective defenses?

DeAngelo Hall and Champ Bailey

or

Bob Sanders and Troy Polamlu. By the way does anyone even know off the top of their head who the starting corners are for the Colts and Steelers? Also the last time we took a corner in the draft we passed up on Shawn Meriman.

I'm not sure it's as simple as that. I mean if Champ Bailey and Troy Polamalu were on the same team, and each missed five games (not together) can you definitively say that the team would be better off in the five games Champ missed?

But more importantly, you're not the defensive coordinator of the Redskins. And neither am I. Greg Blache is. And Mr. Blaches says:

"A lot of people disagree with me on this but I firmly believe that in order to be successful on defense in today's football it starts with your corner position."

^^ i remember reading that blache said that. I just hope we can trade down and get 2-2nd rounders cus that would be awesome. Hopefully the falcons will want to pick up whoever we have at 21.

I agree, but I think a 2nd or 3rd round WR will not fill our #2 WR spot. We need FA or a trade. Since there's nobody left in FA, then let's trade.
