we need linemen. its that simple. and if the redskins felt that corner was that pressing of a need, Mr. Hall would be in Washington right now
This is a GOOD reason why we shouldn't touch a WR in the 1st.dmek25 03-19-2008, 07:35 AM we need linemen. its that simple. and if the redskins felt that corner was that pressing of a need, Mr. Hall would be in Washington right now freddyg12 03-19-2008, 09:32 AM we need linemen. its that simple. and if the redskins felt that corner was that pressing of a need, Mr. Hall would be in Washington right now maybe it isn't "that pressing of a need" but there are a couple other good reasons d. hall isn't here: 1) his $ demands, 2) his attitude. That doesn't mean it's not a position of need. I wouldn't be surprised if we took a cb, wr, de w/our 1st pick, I think it'll come down to who is the best available player from a select few positions. KLHJ2 03-19-2008, 10:04 AM i dont think there isn't really a corner worth drafting the first round except maybe cromarties cousin...we should've went after Randall Gay or maybe even deangelo hall for a second rounder. Rogers-Cromartie is nothing special. He is a track star playing football. Some team is going to pick him in the first round because of his impressive 40 time and he is more than likely going to bust. Please don't let it be us. FILM DOES NOT LIE ! TheMalcolmConnection 03-19-2008, 10:13 AM While you can say that film doesn't lie, you're also saying it from the eye of a non-football professional. There are many intricacies that coaches see that we don't. Just because I saw someone get burned in a certain game, doesn't mean they're any less capable of playing in the NFL. Rajmahal33 03-19-2008, 10:15 AM What about a draft day trade of the #21 pick...I would like to pick up a 2nd and possibly a later pick in this years draft OR a day 1 pick in next years draft. Reasons: - looks like we are positioning ourselves to make some moves during next year's offseason so it would be good to pick up an extra pick or two (as trade potential or to make up for players to be cut to make room for big $ FA's). - this draft is deep, and if we can draft a player with little talent drop off in the 35-50 range as we do at the 21 spot, I think that we should do it. - Imagine if we were able to get 3 picks in next year's draft in the first two rounds (our 2 + 1 we acquire in this transaction)...thats how you build quality depth and secure urself for many years to come... - We have some vets who are getting old but still have at least one or two good seasons left in them. They can hold out for their replacements to be drafted for one more year. - Along with the previous point, our superstars aren't going anywhere for the next 4-5 years and if we can build quality depth over the next 2 years, we can make a run for something of a dynasty in future years. - Just in case we do go after Cowher next year when he is ready, it would be good to give him as many picks as possible...(keepin the dream alive, haha :cheeky-sm) KLHJ2 03-19-2008, 10:18 AM While you can say that film doesn't lie, you're also saying it from the eye of a non-football professional. Some scouts and former opponents see it from my perspective as well. When I gather a list of names I will let you have them. schndr_tdd 03-19-2008, 10:53 AM Darrell Green has been working with Cromartie, case closed. Rajmahal33 03-19-2008, 10:57 AM I don't know about case closed but the fact that Darrell Green is working with him is a BIG plus. I don't see green coaching him unless there was either serious interest in him by the washington staff or unless green saw something special in him. At the very least it shows me that cromartie isn't just a "track star playing football", but rather a two sport guy very similar to Darrell Green himself. dmek25 03-19-2008, 11:08 AM Some scouts and former opponents see it from my perspective as well. When I gather a list of names I will let you have them. for every good scouting report, there is another bad one. i guarantee there are more teams out there that would love to have Cromartie on their team, then not. and the player in this draft that i think is running the biggest sham, is Howie Longs son. the guy is no where near the player that people are predicting to be a first rounder. had 2 or 3 games, max, that was outstanding in. all the other games, he disappeared. just a workout guy. too me, very similar to Mike Mumula. anyone remember him? KLHJ2 03-19-2008, 11:09 AM Even Deion Sanders said "I have my name on you" to Cromartie at the scouting combine. All of that means nothing, Rogers-Cromartie still has to be the one that performs on Sundays; not Darrell Green, Primetime, or his cousin Antonio can perform for him. This is my gut feeling that too much stock is being invested in this kid for all the wrong reasons. We can agree to disagree and leave it at that. |
