What to do with the cap space?

Here's what I think.
I think Cerrato wanted 5-6 Mil cushion going into the draft in case there is some trade potential...that explains why they wouldn't offer Hacket 2 Mil.

If no trade occurs, they can use that, as many have suggested, to extend Campbell or other core draft picks nearing the end of their contracts.

Regarding siging June 1 cuts....there wont be any due to the new rules that allow you to designate early cuts as June 1. Free agency is essentially over outside of 3rd stringers.

can you take the money, and front load a contract? that way anyone that needs extended gets their money up front, and the majority counts against this yearThe problem with front loading a deal comes when a player, three years down the road, realizes all the big money in his deal is behind him, and then clamors (hard) for a new deal, by skipping OTA's and being a crabby person in the locker room.

I would avoid front loading a deal.

Here's an idea, we don't do anything with it. We wait and see if a player comes along for the right price, and if he doesn't then oh well, ain't no biggie. Just because we have this cap space doesn't mean we automatically have to use it. We could save up for the draft picks, that's another idea. Because when you think about it, having 8 million in cap space isn't really that much compared to what other teams have. It's not like we have 40 million in cap space just sitting around waiting to be used.

Well said. It nice to feel better about the cap by the day for a change.

#1 continue to re-sign our own guys

#2 use it to sign our draft picks

#3 save space for a possible June 1 cut

WHAT??? The SKins doing that????
HAHAHA

That is precisely what we need to do...I hope you're right and that is actually what we do.

So far so good. I don't think anyone thought the Skins would be so quiet so far. Seems like they are headed in the right direction.

It feels good too...I hope they stay on this path.
It almost feels like the Skins are crack addict for making deals, and they are sitting there shaking and sweating. People keep telling them they are doing good, just relax this feeling will pass...but at any time they could fall off the wagon and pull off a dumb deal to get thier fix. (Like a Julius Peppers, or Chad Johnson or something like that)
I hope not...I want to see what kind of damage we can do in the draft, and we need to get younger.

I think the reason that we r trying to save money,is to be able to sign our players for next couple of years and build from the draft.(Macintosh,Campbell,Montgomery,Rodgers,etc.) Dan is trying to keep a core of players wich is what he should have done from the get-go.Draft Cromartie,Mike Jenkins,Talib in the 1st,DE-DT in 2nd,OT-OG in 3rd,then go to the best player available in the rest of the picks.

I would like the any money left under the cap to be paid directly to me, preferably in large bills. Wait, I take that back. Make it in all ones. That way I can show Pacman how it's REALLY done at the strip club.

Pretty sure that the 8 mil doesn't include the 5 that we've set aside for the draft.
