The Atlanta Falcons (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=atl) have reached an agreement in principle with the Oakland Raiders (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=oak) to trade cornerback DeAngelo Hall (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6767) for the Raiders' second-round pick in the 2008 draft, pending the Raiders finalizing a contract with Hall, according to a source close to the Falcons.

Hall is close to agreeing to a contract with the Raiders that will pay him just below what Asante Samuel (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6456) signed with the Eagles (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=phi), according to the source. Samuel signed a six-year deal worth a reported $57 million, with $20 million guaranteed.

Hall is a former first-rounder taken with the eighth pick in the 2004 draft.

Wow, I think Al Davis is insane, first he gives Tommy Kelly a 50million dollar contract, and now this when he already has two solid cornerbacks, Fabian Washington, and Nnandi Ashomou or whatever the spelling is. This might mean that the reports that Fabian Washington was on the trading block might have been right, can't wait to see what goes down.

Interesting move for the Raiders. As for the Falcons, they don't get the 1st rounder they wanted but they do now have three high to mid picks in round 2.

ST21:

Fabian Washington was a high draft pick but hasn't set the world on fire since arriving in the NFL.

Maybe he's worth keeping around as a nickel back but he is part of the reason that the Raiders defense was "less than robust" last year.

Yea, but the kind of speed that he has, you just gotta keep him around because he won't get burnt by too many guys.

Where does this signing put Asomugha? Forget Hall, I would trade Asomugha for a first round pick in a heart beat.

WTF? I thought the giants were willing to trade their 1st. For a talent such as Hall, a 2nd is too low. The raiders are dumb as shit with everything they do.
