Yes, IMO I'm more concerned at the DE/DT positions first (but of course best player whoever it might be). We will have to address the safety position for depth either in mid/latter rounds or FA. And the almighty "official" if its going to be an "official" thread it should be in the correct forum.......like lets say, NFL Draft Central wouldn't that make it a little more "official" .......lol That Guy 03-09-2008, 12:39 PM we could use a late 3rd and get a starting safety. no need to use our first unless absolutely no one else we like is there. phillips is good, but he's not the next ST. freddyg12 03-09-2008, 04:12 PM Brandon Flowers is 5'9", ran a 4.6 at the combine, and had a 30" vertical. So he is a short guy, with very little explosion, who played the boundary corner at Tech (i.e. shorter side of the field). If I'm not mistaken, Tech runs a ton of zone coverage and their corners are not asked to play much man. Corners coming out of that program have not had a whole of success, with the exception (maybe, but you could argue he is overrated) DeAngelo Hall. But Hall has elite athletic skills, which Brandon Flowers obviously does not possess. No thanks to Flowers, no thanks to Phillips, unless they drop down to the 2nd or 3rd (for Flowers) rounds. You're right about most of it, VT does play a lot of zone, but they also have the boundary cb play tight man a lot at the line of scrimmage. Flowers is definitely a good cover 2 cb. He's a little small but he's very physical. No way I'm suggesting grabbing him w/our 1st, but he's a good value in the 2nd or 3rd. IF his 40 time & size really drops him that far, he's a steal in the 3rd. Phillips is a great talent & interviews well, seems pretty bright & level headed. I just can't see using that pick on a safety given that we need depth at that position more than a starter. If he actually lasts that long to pick #21, it will be hard to pass him up though. EXoffender 03-09-2008, 05:41 PM I like Phillips but, not at 21st overall. SKINSnCANES 03-09-2008, 05:44 PM DL, DL, DL. And why do we make "official _______" threads? yea, im the only one thats supposed to make 'offical [INSERT MIAMI HURRICANE]' Threads :) SkinsFanSince91 03-11-2008, 02:06 PM brandon flowers would not be our numbe one corner. And no matter how good your secondary is if you have NO pass rush they will get picked apart But in a blitz heavy scheme you need good corners or all of the blitzing is for naught. Blache = Blitz Heavy Def Coordinator Im pretty sur ehe feels like he is content iwth our D-Line for now, but I beleive he will get a corner early so that even in our pass rush can't get a "pass rush" sack they can get a "coverage sack." While KP is a real possibility, I like to get Zbikowski in the third, and that is if we get that extra compensatory pick. if we don't then he is still a good look. |
