The Skins have the room under the cap to make a move if they feel like it. My problem isn't that they haven't done anything, I'll have a problem if they do absolutely nothing though. They need to either add someone through the draft or via FA (I would prefer both, even if one of them is just to re-sign Caldwell).

If the FO is banking on Mix becoming a legit threat, they're doing a disservice to the team. Zorn has stated that Randle El will move to the slot, so we're in need of a #2 receiver. Caldwell isn't that guy, IMO. Hell, I don't see Moss as much more than a #2 right now. I don't believe there is a true #1 receiver available right now, but Johnson and Hackett are capable of being #2 receivers. I'm not saying that I necessarily want either of them, but something needs to happen.

As for the draft, I feel like this draft is full of #2 receivers from the bottom of round 1 to about the mid 3rd round. I could live with anyone from Limas Sweed to Jerome Simpson. I think if nothing is done in free agency, 2 receivers need to be selected in this draft.

At this point, I think I would probably select a WR in the first and 5th rounds of the upcoming draft rather give Hackett the money he will command. The problem with that is that I don't believe that anyone (sans Sweed) is ready to come and contribute on Day 1.

It's a sticky situation, but if they re-sign Caldwell and then draft a kid it might be the best route, the problem then is that they have Moss, Caldwell, Randle El (none of whom play teams), Thrash, Mix, Espy, and the Rook that's 7 receivers. I think Thrash and Espy/Mix could go and the other of Espy/Mix should end up on the practice squad. The problem with that is, you need to draft a big receiver then or you roll with a bunch of small guys should Mix not make the team.

good points, if we get those compensatory picks, 2 wr's would be possible, w/the likelihood that only 1 makes the team. I would love to see one of a couple of my Hokies, Justin Harper & Josh Morgan, taken in the late rounds. Both can play teams & might make because of that.

I wanted to see Espy emerge but after his injury last year I would be surprised if he can make the team if we draft anybody at wr.

This is what I've been saying for a while now.

No guarantees on Mix, but if we get Hackett we don't need any WRs in the draft. Let's give this guy a shot and if he develops and can be productive in the Red Zone great, if not look to the draft next year for WRs.

If we don't get Hackett then we probably target a big, physical WR in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I think this is the year to draft wr's if we're going to do it. That way they have time to develop in Zorn's offense in 08 & can produce in 09 & thereafter. We might get lucky & get a wr that can catch 30-40 passes as a rookie.

Vinny Cerato says they will probably draft a reciever in the 2nd or 3rd round. So, odviously it will be someone we develop. Dont forget Vinny found TO, in the third.

I would argue the Seattle play was more of a right place at the right time kind of deal. Beside that however, Mix has made some decent tackles on special teams all year I don't think recovering the ball in Seattle was that big of a deal.

I do however feel he does need consideration seeing that he was always is around tackles on teams. Seems like he is working his butt off to get some playing time and I hope he does get some when ARE or hackett(my hope) are tired.
He made an immediate imppact on special teams. The reason he was able to recover the ball in Seatle is because he is big and got of the line well and once of the line, he had the speed to get there. Dont forget, he was a beast against Devin Hester.

I'm not high on Anthony Mix. Who's high on Anthony Mix?

He was cut from the Giants. If they were that high on him, they would have found a way to keep him. Simple as that.

We better not be depending on him for anything this coming season other than special teams and a prayer for a little more.

It was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.

So are you saying that this is the worst idea you've ever heard?

So are you saying that this is the worst idea you've ever heard?I'm not really going that far, but I just think it's a huge JUMP to say that since we're quiet right now it must mean that Anthony Mix is reason.
Please, just 10 minutes ago I smacked my frozen up computer and yelled "PC Load Letter?!? WTF does that mean?!?!", so Office Space is clearly on the brain.

Yes, and just like Antonio Pierce, an undrafted free agent for us, as someone mentioned earlier in this thread.

But are you going to bank on Anthony Mix making that kind of leap?

He's got size, he has decent straight line speed, but he has little agility/quickness and hence has trouble separating from DBs, hence has trouble getting on the field.

People in this thread are starting to sound like the kid is the second coming of Plax or TO. Hell, for him to put up #3 WR numbers this season would be a major leap from him. If you're the GM, and you're counting on Anthony Mix to make an impact, you should be fired.

What you guys are doing is HOPING. But to say we shouldn't address WR because Anthony Mix is going to make everything OK, that would be a very poor decision.
