Sometimes you forget how dangerous sports are, especially something like skiing. They're going so fast.
I hope the guy recovers.

I saw that on break.com today. You can just see his leg flopping... Ugh. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Frankly I'm surprised more injuries like this don't happen for as fast as those guys go. For them to have to amputate it must have been horrific. All the best to this guy in his recovery.

That is terrible and looks like his career is over now that the leg is removed. That reminded me of a similar injury in the Premier League(English soccer). On of the forwards on Arsenal, Eduardo had a nasty tackle to the ankle and it was near a clean break. Also not for the queasy.

You could see the skier coming off that jump and knew something bad was going to happen. Man, that was definitely gruesome.
Here is Eduardo's break in slo-mo, with commentary about the play:

I'm a Man U fan, but you never want an injury like Eduardo's to happen. That's just a shame.

Um man that had to hurt and the poor guy lost his leg. What I don't get is this happend Sunday and they did not operate until Monday night that time delay could have cost him his leg. My buddy does emergency operations for people in bad car wrecks and stuff like that and he only gets called in if its a bad break that requires an operation. If his pager goes off he is up and gone because time becomes very important in these situations and for him to wait 24 hours just does not make sense. I wonder if Austria did not want Candian doctors to operate on him or that they did not have any qualified Canadian doctors on staff or call.
