I think
Marcus Monk = Darnerian McCants
Why do you say that? Have you heard him sing?

The Official draft Marcus Monk thread.onlydarksets 03-05-2008, 02:42 PM I think Marcus Monk = Darnerian McCants Why do you say that? Have you heard him sing? DGreene28 03-05-2008, 03:05 PM Funny you bring up Rice...while I do not think he is the 2nd coming of Rice (there will never be another Rice), Rice ran a 4.70 40 at the combine. I would trust this time: NFL prospects hope to be in fast company at combine | Philadelphia Daily News | 02/21/2008 (http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/sports/15831882.html) Jerry Rice was an example of that in later years," Brandt says. "He ran in the low 4.60s at the combine - not a stellar time - but with his equipment on, he probably ran faster than some of the players who would have beaten him in shorts. He was just so strong he carried his equipment well." Monk is not strong enough to carry the pads on the field... JK But seriously, he's a very underwhelming athlete. In that run 1st offense with McFadden, Jones and Hillis half of his catches were on play action or trick play passes from D Mac where he was wide open. I say 7th round project. SmootSmack 03-05-2008, 03:42 PM I can't put my finger on it, but I like Hubbard too. If we pick a WR in the first two rounds I like Thomas or Kelly; rounds 2-4: Bennett and Caldwell; 5-7: Hubbard is probably my favorite in those rounds. But again, I think Monk wouldn't really be a waste in those late rounds. DraftHistory.com (http://www.drafthistory.com/rounds/round_7.html) You can get lucky with a Bradshaw, Colston or Houshmanzadah in the 7th. It's a crapshoot though, odds are not good. What do you think of the other guys Caldwell, Bennett, Bowman, and that guy from Michigan (his name escapes me right now, not Manningham the other one) jsarno 03-05-2008, 04:06 PM DraftHistory.com (http://www.drafthistory.com/rounds/round_7.html) You can get lucky with a Bradshaw, Colston or Houshmanzadah in the 7th. It's a crapshoot though, odds are not good. It's all about opportunity. Colston would still be riding the pine if he went to Cincy, but he landed in NO. Ronald Curry and our very own Rock Cartwright were 7th rounders. Also, Donald Driver was a 7th rounder. Great post...thanks. skinsfan69 03-05-2008, 04:12 PM If he's there in round 5-7 then I'd be OK with it. Ark. doesn't even run a college level passing game. It's probably going to take him a while to learn the pro passing game. But he's a big tall guy who did have 11td's in 06. That Guy 03-05-2008, 04:28 PM special teamer, possible depth, project at best. again, good value very very late. BleedBurgundy 03-05-2008, 04:57 PM I don't know, neither of the highlights in this thread were all that impressive. It looked like a big tall guy ran straight down the field and either the corner fell down or was inept and the ball bounced right to him. Not sure how that's going to work in the pros... I agree that he would definitely be a project, only worth it probably in 6th or 7th round... Dirtbag59 03-05-2008, 05:02 PM This guy. Player - James Hardy College - Indiana Height - 6'5 3/8 Weight - 217 40 Yard - 4.47 Reps - 18 Vertical - ? Shuttle - 4.20 60 Yard - ? Cone - 6.84 Broad Jump - 10'5" The guy apparently has some pretty bad character issues. Not close to Pacman Jones level but still more trouble then he's worth. Usually a two game suspension is a pretty bad sign. Most coaches are fine with keeping a player on the bench for a half. Strengths: Flashes the ability to get a clean release working against press coverage and can get open quickly when corners give him a cushion. Athletic and fluid changing directions when footwork is sound. Shows good toughness over the middle and can hold onto the ball after taking the big hit. Doesn't have great top-end speed but is a long-strider, shows good sideline awareness and tracks the ball fairly well so can make the occasional play downfield. Has excellent size and rarely gets muscled out of routes. Stays alert, shows good awareness and works back to the quarterback when the protection starts to break down. Uses wide frame to shield defenders from the ball and can make tough catches in traffic. Snatches the ball out of the air, is fluid turning upfield after catches and can pick up yards after contact. Times jumps well and has the potential to develop into a productive red zone target. Weaknesses: Rounds off too many cuts, doesn't set corners up by changing speeds and is an inconsistent route-runner at this point. Lacks ideal explosiveness and is going to have a harder time separating from man coverage at the NFL level. Takes too long to reach top speed, isn't going to make defenders miss in space and isn't much of a big-play threat after the catch. While has great size and flashes the ability to get into position doesn't play with enough of a mean streak and effort is inconsistent when blocking. Indiana suspended him for two games for an off-the-field incident in 2006 and character is somewhat of a concern. Overall: Indiana red-shirted Hardy during his true freshman season in 2004. Hardy appeared in ten games during the 2005 season. In 2006, he appeared in ten games recording 51 catches, 722 receiving yards and ten receiving touchdowns. Hardy appeared in all 13 games of the 2007 season recording 79 catches, 1,125 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns. Hardy lacks ideal suddenness and will struggle to separate versus some of the elite cover corners at the next level. He also comes with some character baggage that will cause him to drop a bit during draft weekend. However, Hardy possesses a unique blend of size, athleticism and reliable hands, which is why he could be selected as high as the second round. |
