QBall 03-03-2008, 05:17 PM Jerry Porter, $30M, $10M guaranteed
Donte Stallworth, $35M, $10M guaranteed
Bernard Berrian, $42M, $16M guaranteed
And, while draft status is not necessarily a predictor of ultimate success, it does give a player a leg-up in getting playing time initially. Players with higher draft status are typically given more opportunities than those from lower draft picks. That was my point.
Ok so not one of those WR are worth their contracts IMO. Lets just pass on Johnson then and draft a damn WR, forget it!!!!!

More imporantly, he was given an opportunity to start eight games in 2007 due to injuries and never produced more than 80 yards and averaged only 39.75 yards. By comparison, in the six games that D.J. Hackett started he had three 100 yard games and averaged 79.66 yards/game.
You should be D.J. Hackett's agent. I'm sold. Send Bryant Johnson back to Buffalo on a Greyhound, and let's fire up Redskins One for Hackett
SKINSnCANES 03-03-2008, 05:33 PM My question is why? They've had similar stats and Caldwell has been healthier than Hackett. I'm not saying either should be a number one, must like SS is saying. But I'm thinking let's not waste money on people like Hackett or Johnson in free agency and let's talk about the draft.
you cant just look up this guys stats, he was a number 3 behind two of the best in the game, that doesnt mean anything. The guys never been given a chance becuase of that, but he has all the tools. Two inches a lot apparently because those two inches makes you a lot of money these days. We need a number 2, zorn said he wants el in the slot...

I feel like a broken record with this.
Are we forgetting that Johnson was pretty highly regarded coming out of college? He was a 1st rounder. We're not talking about Keenan McCardell barely getting drafted here.
More importantly though, he started nearly half the season each of the last two years and his numbers are hardly staggering.
EARTHQUAKE2689 03-03-2008, 05:47 PM I don't want Hackett or Johnson. They both seem like they will be busts to me.

Did you not read SC Skins Fan's post? He was given a shot for eight games as a starter last year when Anquan Boldin went down, and he didn't do much. He was also drafted ahead of Boldin back in 2003, so he had a better shot at starting then and producing, but he didn't. Boldin became a pro bowler, and he became a number 3 receiver.

It's hard to be a bust at 3 or 4 million a year. (Thats the price range that I'm guessing the Redskins will offer).
Tha Posse 03-03-2008, 06:11 PM First off is it actually confirmed that he is visiting with us. Also i'm getting a Rod Gardner feeling, just a little one though.

Well that is being true, but the way everyone keeps hyping both of them up anything sub-par would be a disapointment to so many.

I think your right. A lot of people are hyping whoever (Johnson or Hacket) the Skins bring in at Reciever will be the annointed as the savior of our passing attack.
So in review, I was wrong about DeWayne Robertson and Chad Johnson, and my dreams of Jason Taylor in Maroon and Black seem to be fading into oblivion, but I still stand by my prediction that if the Redskins stay at 21 they will draft Devin Thomas.
Man I'm becoming the Warpath's version of PFT :(
