After looking at some freaking stats, what does Johnson have over Reche Caldwell besides 2 inches (insert joke here)?

LOL! We don't need this guy. He's a first round bust. Penn State WR's rarely turn out to be good pro's. Someone is going to overpay for him and I hope it's not us. I'd rather have Hackett.

"Insert Joke Here"...that's what she said! Zing!!

Seriously though, if we want a number 2 to complement Santana Moss then I think Reche Caldwell is just fine.

But if we're looking for a #1 WR then we probably need to push a trade for Johnson or Roy Williams.

My question is why? They've had similar stats and Caldwell has been healthier than Hackett. I'm not saying either should be a number one, must like SS is saying. But I'm thinking let's not waste money on people like Hackett or Johnson in free agency and let's talk about the draft.

I guess two inches shorter WOULD be a joke! ;)

In my mind Johnson has a little more upside. He is stuck behind 2 pro bowlers in Arizona. I wouldn't mind Johnson, but I would still rather try and get a trade for a true #1 WR.

I'm sorry folks, but I can't understand how anyone thinks that Reche Caldwell is a legit number 2. I think we often get blinded by our own players. I don't know anyone who has ever heard of Mike Espy if he isn't a member of this board. I'm excited to see what Mix can do too, but I don't think that we should stand pat at wide out. Caldwell is mediocre at best, Mix and Espy (last year's darling) have shown absolutely nothing.

I'm not advocating by Bryant Johnson, but the Skins need another receiver. There is no one on the roster who I would consider to be a legit number 1, Moss can't stay healthy and Randle El is at best a number 2, Caldwell has never had more than 760 receiving yards. His second highest total? 352! I don't know what about his 141 yards and no touchdowns suggests he should be number 2 ahead of Randle El, but I have no faith in a Moss (who might play his average 11 games), Caldwell, Randle El, and (insert former practice squad player here) receiving corps. This team needs another wide out. I'm not sure that I care where to get him, but they gotta get one.

I, personally, would pursue Javon Walker if he's healthy and not too pricey. If he has an incentive laden contract, I would be all about because, when he's healthy and motivated, he's a great football player.

I thought Hackett was somewhat injury prone?

If that's the case then how would he compliment the personnel we have now? We've already got two wideouts that borderline commit suicide every time they go over the middle. I'd rather have a sure handed, physical number two that can free up ARE and SM to do what they do best, make the big play.

What I saw in Hackett in the playoff game is a budding star, a playmaker. Caldwell's game didn't impress me the same. If Caldwell doesn't sign elsewhere (Is he the same highly coveted FA WR as Hackett and Johnson?) by all means, bring him back.

But he started 15 games in the past two years and didn't exactly set the world on fire. And, as I've mentioned before, why is he stuck behind those guys anyway? Not to take anything away from him but he was a high first round pick wasn't he? So I'm not saying he's a bust by any means...but shouldn't there be a bit of a higher standard for such a high pick?

I'm sure he'll be a fine complement but I don't know that he's so much better than what we currently have, yet his contract would likely say otherwise.

As for Walker, yeah when he's healthy and motivated he's great. Question is will he be healthy and can he stay motivated.

But do you think we go after a number one or someone like Hackett or Johnson? Because pretty much our only options are breaking the bank for Walker (which we most likely would do considering his past track record) or trying to trade some draft picks to get another huge contract. Just this year I don't even think it's an option...

While I don't think Caldwell is a Pro Bowler by any means, I think he proved that he was sure handed and ran some great routes when given the chance. I'm saying a three to four year deal and see what the cap space we're left with gives us next year or the year after when we start to see some breathing room...
