I know we like to knock on Cerrato but DAMN! what a mess in Cincy. Two trades for D-linemen falling through. That's messed up.

Despite numerous indications that a deal would go down, the Cincinnati Bengals once again have failed to trade for a new defensive tackle.

FOXSports.com has learned that Dewayne Robertson of the New York Jets, who met with Bengals officials at team headquarters on Monday, will not be traded to Cincinnati.

Horray! My mock draft is still relevant.

Also, thanks for the tips guys, but my roomates picked it up before I woke up. I thought of taking a shovel, putting it in a trashbag, then stomping it, but I'm way to scared of the furry bastards. Anyway water under the bridge, besides with these new pills I don't care about anything.....except my still current mock draft. I can't afford to miss a single pick before the 7th round.

And one because they didn't understand how to tell time or something basically.

Has this guy Robertson EVER lived up to the hype? Obviously not.

Dude was the #4 overall pick.

Nooooo! My glorious mock draft, my gun sticking. What happened? I was the guy that suggested the Redskins might draft Laron Landry on 3-22-07!!! I'm the guy that said Reggie Bush would be better then Mario Williams! I'm never wrong!!! Whyyyyyy?

:offtopic: Also why I am I scared of the mouse that I just caught in a glue trap? Seriously this thing is freaking me out. He/she keeps on making squeaking noises whenever I go into the living room. I can get someone to dispose of it in the morning but I'm scared it'll gnaw its legs off before then. Of course it'll be dead in 5 days considering how much poison it ate. Michael Vick ain't got shit on me. :offtopic:

My life is falling apart :(

And in related news, Dirtbag's mouse just got offers from the Vikings, the 49ers, and the Steelers to play RB, contracts are rumored to be 5-yrs, 60Mill., with 20 Mill. guranteed. LOL.

Dude was the #4 overall pick.

He's been playing in a 3-4 as a nose tackle. He hasn't done a good job handling double teams, but I think he could be pretty effective as a 4-3 DT. The Jets just gave an assload of money to Kris Jenkins, and here's my comparison between the two:

The Jets gave 3rd and 5th round picks , and 5 years $35M to essentially the same guy as Robertson.

Robertson in 5 seasons: 256 total tackles, 14.5 sacks, and has only missed 3 games.

Jenkins in 7 seasons: 215 total tackles, 20.5 sacks, and missed 27 games!

Plus Jenkins is an injury prone malcontent with a history of coming to camp overweight and missing offseason workouts. And he's two years older than Robertson, and has never played in a 3-4. Robertson has a $9.8M cap number this year and doesn't appear willing to restructure, making a successful trade for him unlikely. So if the Jets have to cut him, they'll take a big cap hit in addition to the huge contract they gave Jenkins.

I don't want Robertson, but I don't think the Jets made a very good move here.

Bengals Reach For Odom
By Chris Maier | March 3rd, 2008

Hours after watching their trade for an impact defensive tackle fall through, the Bengals announced the signing of DE Antwan Odom to a five year deal. According to Bengals.com the deal is approximately 5 years and $30 million with around $11 million guaranteed. While some (including Sporting News) rated Odom the top defensive end in the free agent class the signing rings hollow after watching not one but two trades fall through. The optimist sees Odom’s 8 sacks in 2008. The realist sees his 21 total tackles and realizes the sacks along side Pro Bowlers Kyle VandenBosch and Albert Haynesworth. Odom is only 26 and may have a bright future but I can’t stop picturing Reinard Wilson. Don’t forget John Thornton played well for those same Titans along side Jevon Kearse only to be average at best in Cincinnati.

The Bengals defense has lacked an impact defensive tackle since Tim Krumrie departed nearly a generation ago. That also marked the last time the Bengals fielded a capable defense. Sure, you can argue Robertson hasn’t produced much to date either but i beg to differ. Robertson has been miscast in a 3-4 defense and appeared on the cusp of breaking through before Mangini force-fed the 3-4 down the Jets throats (much to the dismay of Robertson and Jonathan Vilma). Defensive tackles are much harder to draft (bust city) and finding a productive one in his prime would have been a coup. The Bengals can hope for Sedrick Ellis or Glenn Dorsey to fall to them at #9 in the draft but neither is likely. Top defensive ends Philip Merling and/or Derrick Harvey will be however.

Actually, Reggie Bush is NOT better than Mario Williams, he's not even an every down HB.

I would take Williams over Bush ANYDAY....

Agreed. The NFL propaganda machine might have jumped the gun on proclaiming Bush the next star RB or the next Barry Sanders.
