The Redskins Schedule A Free Agent Visit

Houston free agent safety Will Demps will be visiting the Redskins. league sources said.

Demps, 28, is a former starting safety with the Ravens, Giants and Texans. He entered the NFL with Baltimore in 2005, and had a rougher time of things with the Giants in 2006 - Baltimore drafted LaRon Landry's older borther, Dawan, that year and Landry became an immediate starter with them - and Demps played 15 games for Houston last season.

The Redskins are seeking safety depth, and though many scouts were impressed with how Reed Doughty came on late last season, I am not surprised Washington would look for a veteran to push Reed.

skinsfan_nn, I moved your post to a new thread. I thought it deserved to be its onw thread instead of buried in the general FA thread

Thanks, I was on the fence on whether to start a new thread or not.

Wouldn't be a bad signing. Good move for depth, especially since Preilou prob won't be back. And he started 16 games for the Giants in '06 so he knows the division.

I'm not against it either. we need someone under 30 to back up Doughty

Demps is not a real good safety. I remember him being burned several times when he played for NYG. Let's hope Reed can step in and play solid and build from last year's experience.

I'm not really sold on Demps either. I would imagine for depth purposes he could be a good signing, and would be relatively inexpensive. I didn't see him play last year, but I remember some of his performances in NY.
