A WR who may become available:

Don’t expect the Patriots to pick up the $4 million option they have on WR Kelley Washington. In his first year as a Patriot, the former Bengal failed to catch a pass, as he was buried on the Patriots’ depth chart. However, the Pats value his tremendous special-teams contributions and would be happy to keep him on board if he’s willing to accept a reduced salary.

Kelley Washington (http://www.nfl.com/players/kelleywashington/profile?id=WAS400893)

This is a relatively young guy (28), good size 6-3, 215, who has been buried on a couple of rosters. In Cinci, he was behind CJohnson, TJ Who's Your Mama and Chris Henry (who, despite being a d-bag, was a pretty good WR). In NE he was behind Moss, Welker, Stallworth.

Not saying this guy is a sure No.1 or even No.2; I do think that he is at worst a replacement for J. Thrash. Good special teams, and when given the chance in Cinci, due to Henry's suspension - he flashed some ability.

Not sure of any bad PR on the guy. Worst thing you can say is that given the opportunity he hasn't been able to step up and even be a No.3 in Cinci and in NE he couldn't beat out Stallworth or the other NE receivers to even crack the no. 4 spot consistently. Also, he may just be one more body comparable to what we already have on the roster. My gut says, however, he could be a breakout WR waiting to happen.

I have always liked the guy and think, if he a) can be had at a reasonable price; and b) is willing to leave NE - might be worth a flyer. Assuming he has the ability I think he does, He and Moss could be good combo as a pair of No. 1-2 WR's (i.e. not quite a pure No.1, but better than the average No.2).

Just a thought.

He's a local guy from Winchester, VA too.

I vaguely remember him at Tenn. Thought he was a pretty good prospect. Since the Pats didn't keep Stallworth, they might be considering giving him more of a shot.

Yeah, he went to Sherando HS in Stephens City. I don't like the way he dances, though.

Wasn't this guy a high pick?
I remember him from a few drafts back.
Kid has ability...my concern is signing another WR with "potential" aka Lloyd.

I'd say he could make a good #3 potentially...so thats the kinda money he should get.
Is it possible for a breakout year...certainly...but thats a gamble we already lost on.
If we are gunna gamble on that...I'd prefer we do it with someone in the draft that hasn't tried and failed yet.

I wouldn't be completely opposed if we gave him a modest deal for depth only.
I still say, if we go WR....we need a true #1...if we go depth...it should be with someone that knows the system or is a possesion receiver.

AKA DJ Hackett, also how would you guys feel if we signed Hackett and drafted a WR in the second or 3rd round

He was drafted out of Tenn by Cinn but I think he was a 3rd or 4th rounder cause he was often hurt. But he got beat out by Chris Henry. I'd say we leave him alone. I'd rather we go after Stallworth or Hackett. At least those two have shown they can produce when healthy.

Man we're gonna get a thread on every available WR over 6-1. This is starting to look like ES. Oh well, at least no one has suggested we trade Portis for McFadden. However at this rate we're going to see threads for Drew Carter, Justin Gage, Aaron Moorehead, and Justin McCariens.
