Rod Coleman is just the type of player we need.

We don't have to trade any picks to pick him up, he got into a freak car accident last year and was cut due to his high cap number and little play time last year because of that injury. I say we sign this guy and let him rotate in on pass rushing downs cus he is a one gap DT and he can penetrate and get to the QB. This will free up Carter and whoever else we draft/sign in FA.

I just dont understand how no one has mentioned this guy cus he has always been a consistant player and great one IMHO, but does anyone else have any input? We could probably get him for a decent price (his contract) and I bet he would end up being the starter, and he could also help mentor our young players (DT's) on his technique and skill.. :woot:

I see a WIN/WIN situation and I don't see why we don't jump on this..:frusty:

He's decent but he's 31 and a bit light in the ass for an every down DT (285 lbs). I wouldn't mind him in a rotation but I wouldn't want to give him starter money and that's probably what it would take to get him here.

The bucs have shown interest in about every vet that hits the mkt. though they were smart enough to cut S. Rice.

I don't disagree that he could be a contributor for any team, but looking at our DTs, I don't think the staff will see a need for a vet to plug into the rotation, since this guy's close in age to Griff. I see Boschetti's spot getting taken by a draft pick, or at least it sounds like Blache wants to get some young guys in there.

Also, don't forget that they said Daniels will see some more time at DT, just as he did this past year on passing downs.

On a side note, it might sound crazy, but Glenn Dorsey may be this year's Aaron Rodgers/B. Quinn. A top 5 pick before the combine that falls into the 20s on draft day.

If Dorsey were to drop that far, it would be worth any risk that his leg injury poses to take him.

If Glenn Dorsey makes it to 15 I say we trade up and get him but I really dont see that happening

Did you see Brady Quinn falling to 22 last year? I know Dorsey is a bigger prospect than him, but there are always a few guys that drop surprisingly.

I know it doesn't sound too realistic now, but it does appear his stock is begginning to fall. I would think that someone in that 10-15 range would take him if he's there even if his leg is questionable, but you never know...

yes that is because no one after the dolphins needed a QB but lots of temas need D line help and as the Giants showed you can ever had enough

agree w/you there, even if the g-men didn't win the SB, impact d linemen are still a sought commodity.

btw, Dorsey said he had a broken tibia in 06 & a sprained knee. By draft time teams will have a better idea of his health

yea but coleman wouldnt take starter money to get here... and I think he knows that.. I think he would take Vet min+Incentives... or maybe a little bit more.. but he average 7 sacks as a DT and thats what we need
