I do not see that WR is a huge priority. DL, OL, CB and Safety are a priority more so that WR.
We have a ton of money tied up on current WR's, some that have not panned out. Throwing more money at WR is a luxury not a serious need like DE or OG where we are thin and old. Yes Brandon Lloyd has been a bust, but WR's are available all the time. A good/young safety is not that easy to find.

THANK YOU!!!! KENNY PHILLIPS BANDWAGON STARTS HERE!! hah

Phillips could be a stud here, but I doubt seeing him around at 21...

safety is not a huge priority.

DE, WR, OL, & CB are our hig priority targets. I thought we all knew that. Taking anything ther than those positions in the 1st round would be counter productive.
I think Safety is a HUGE priority. Let's take a look at the Safeties we currently have on our roster:
LaRon Landry- We all know this kid is going to be good for years to come.
After Landry the talent drastically drops....
Reed Doughty- Showed some promise last year, but I am not sold on him being a starter. I think Doughty is more suited for a backup role.
Vernon Fox- Career special teams player. Decent backup safety.
Pierson Prioleau- Free Agent that will probably follow GW to Jacksonville.
Omar Stoutmire- Free Agent who is 33 years old, and likely to be gone.
So if Prioleau, and Stoutmire depart that leaves us with 3 safeties two of whom (Doughty,Fox) probably are not starting caliber safeties in this leauge. Even if Doughty was able to prove himself and start this year we would still need to add at least one more safety for depth. So I think either way you look at it we need to address the safety position.

And the O-line isn't an issue? All of our starters are over 30 and we'll likely need 2 new starters within the next year or so. The D-line is also an issue, with Daniels getting into his mid-30s and Griffin on the decline. We also have needs at WR, LB and CB. I'd love a nice new safety, but we have needs at other positions of greater importance.

I never said that Safety is our greatest need of importance, but I do think it's a pretty big need that will need to addressed. After FA we're going to be carrying 3 safeties one of whom (Fox) is a career special teamer, and Doughty is unproven as a full time starter. This reminds me of last year, before we drafted Landry, when everyone thought Pierson Prioleau was the answer at SS, and I think we all know how that would've turned out. I see the same thing with Doughty, he's a good backup nothing more. I do agree with you that O-line/D-line should be our top priorites this offseason, but after that I think we really need to look at the Safety/CB positions.

Yeah, but I think we should draft ol and dl in later rounds if Phillips falls to us magically like I think he is. Forget OL and DL in the first round. You know... 80 percent of the Hogs were undrafted? You can build an offensive and defensive line in 2 years with the later rounds of the draft. If Phillips is available, take him. It'd be almost too omniscent with the #21 pick. "PICK PHILLIPS" is coming from up above. Jesus Christ, they say Joe Jacoby is the best offensive lineman EVER to be signed as an undrafted rookie. Look at our de's. Andre Carter is a little better than mediocre. He had 10 or 10 1/2 sacks. He's getting better, and eventhough Philip Daniels is old, he is a good run stopper. I don't see anything but DEPTH that we need at those positions. OL is a different story. I see us using 2nd and 3rd for OL help. I think I make a valid point though. Unless you are ZERO at depth for a position, you don't draft for depth in the first round. lol... IMPACT players come with the first pick.

Basically.. I think....

#21 - Either (if either one is still available) Kenny Phillips, or Brandon Flowers.

Later rounds...
2nd-OL/OG
3rd-WR/CB
5th-P/K
6th-ol/og depth
7th-ol/og depth

CB-
CB is an issue, but like I said, with two blistering safeties, I think that would lighten coverages. You wont see many teams going deep as often with LL and KP back there. Either way, Phillips or Flowers are golden.

WR-
I think Anthony Mix is going to be our new Red Zone threat, so we REALLY DON'T need a WR in the draft. Period. We have WAY too much money tied up on Brandon Lloyd. Reche, Santana, Randle El, Mix. If he doesn't retire, Keenan for real vet leadership.

Linebackers....

H.B. Blades is good. Damn good. Give him time to develop. Whenever Rocky comes back, it won't be like he never left, it's going to take time for him to make his full recovery... (if it ever happens). Fletcher has 2 years left. We have decent players on the defensive side, but I agree we need a playmaker closer to the ball. Andre is good. Depth at isn't as crucial as all these other needs. You can go after DL in FA.

yeah I like Doughty.I think we need to stick with him. Can't afford Huff anyway.Might not be bad to pick up somebody late in the draft though.

what are you people talking aboug "we can't afford him" ???????

WE ALWAYS have salary cap issues and we ALWAYS get over them.. every year.. we are under the cap and will be 20mil under the cap after brunell adn a few others are cut and such..
We may not b the smartest with what we do with our money but we are MASTERS at managing our cap.

We can sign any player we want, but it seems that Dan is refraining from having to be the highest bidder... IT looks like they will make a decent offer and if it's turned down, then on they go..

But really, I dont understand why people are always talking about "we are in cap trouble" and al ltaht crap... Let me ask you this... Did you just start bein a redskins fan? because as long as I can remember for the past 10 years we've always been in 'cap hell' but somehow always find a way to sign whoeer we want.... THINK BEFORE YOU POST hahaah
