Roy Williams (WR) for a 2nd Round Pick?

Springs got burned bad by Owens this year, too. do you want to cut him? hey Dmek , no I do not want to cut Springs .Springs is not a young man and he had to deal with his father this year . I would rather use F/A to bring in the best cb that we can sign , use # 21 on a DE . If it just happens that in rd 2 or 3 a cb with strong cover skills is sitting there , pick him . The Hall for 21 with the team having depth issues on both lines seems too much at this time . I have seen him talk a lot and it seems he gets burned too much in there big games ? If we do bring him here , I hope like hell he is our best cb.

i don't understand why everyone is jumping all over Williams for a second round pick. when Hall is available, for a first rounder, and far the more proven player. is there that much of a difference between the 2 picks? in my opinion, we need a corner far more then we need a wide out. and i think there is more to Williams just wanting out of Detroit

I would take Roy Williams over DeAngelo Hall every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Hall is a malcontent who can't keep his mouth shut. And while we do need a CB, we don't need a #1 like Hall. Rogers won't be ready for the season start, but he will play next year. Right now, they're estimating him ready by mid-September. He probably won't be himself until the middle or later in the season, but still. Getting Hall would be overkill, it'd be similar to the panicky TJ Duckett acquisition.

With the way Smoot and Springs finished the season, there's no reason to panic and say you need to upgrade either one of them. They're both very solid NFL starters. And when Rogers is back to his old self, you'll have 3 solid starters. Even if you think about Hall as a long-term replacement for Springs, you're still chock full of 3 very talented CBs. It's a misallocation of our cap resources. We'd be better off with a Drayton Florence as a decent nickle guy.

Roy Williams however is a HUGE playmaker. He's had some injuries, so that's worrisome. But it sure would beat a loudmouth problem at a position at which we're already in decent shape.

That said, I'd be shocked if a 2009 second rounder would be the high bid for Roy Williams. It will take a 2nd this year, or a 1st next year. And since the teams mentioned here have higher picks than we do, to outbid them we'll either have to give up a 1st this year or a 1st next year. I don't like either option. what has Williams done for you to think this? i keep reading about him being a number one, anyone care to post his stats from last season? Hall has already been to 2 pro bowls, and is only 24. while his mouth isn't his best quality, no one knows for sure how we would react playing in such a disaster as Atlanta. i say corner is a much bigger need then wide out

I think anyone here would agree our 2nd next year for Roy Williams would be a steal....we'd have to throw them a bone....like a 6th this year too.
That wouldn't be too bad.

I'd do it....imagine what a signing like this would do for Moss and Cooley.

It would also mean Cooley could be situational and keep in a blocking end...which would really help Campbell.

A Roy Williams signing would make the entire offense better....even if he didn't light it up...I'd do it for a 2nd this year too....especially if we got a little something back

His career yards per reception is 15.0. Last year, Santana Moss averaged 13.2 and Antwaan Randle-El averaged 14.3.
Last year, he had 63 catches for 836 yards and 5 TDs, in 12 games. Over a 16 game season, that extrapolates to 84 catches, 1136 yards, and 7 TDs.
In 2006, he played a full season, and posted 82 catches, 1310 yards, and 7 TDs.
In his first two years in the league (2004 and 2005), he had 8 TDs in each season, despite missing seven games over the course of those two years.
Last year, Roy averaged 4.6 YAC compared to Santana Moss' 3.1 and Randle-El's 3.6.
He was a Pro Bowler after his stellar 2006 season. If he didn't get hurt and miss the last 4 games of this past season, he probably would have been a Pro Bowler then too.
He'll be 27 when the 2008 season starts. He's one of the best young WRs in football. Which NFL are you watching?

Normally, I don't like the fact we tend to get rid of our picks for stuff like this.. but Roy Williams... damn! that's what we need.. a big receiver..!

This article also claims Jevon Walker (den) and Larry Fitzgerald are being shopped...however, I saw recently that the Skins are interested in a Walker trade but Fitz aint going anywhere. I'd prefer LF over anyone.

To get a player the caliber of Roy Williams for a 2nd rounder is a steal and should be done in a heartbeat! We could only hope to get a decent WR that would develope into a Roy Williams type with a 1st round pick, so to get him already established for a 2nd rounder is a no brainer.
I'd love to see us get Campbell (DE) in the draft, and have Roy Williams for our 2nd round pick. That would be quite a productive draft!
