I have a feeling the Skins already have deals in place with Hackett and Florence, as evident in this PFT post.

One of the rumors making the rounds at the Scouting Combine is, as reported by Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, that the 49ers are negotiating (four days early) with defensive end Justin Smith.

Other players who, as the rumor mill goes, might already have deals include receiver Bernard Berrian, cornerback Drayton Florence, and receiver D.J. Hackett.

Then again, it could be that their agents are merely trying to drive up interest by spreading the word that a deal is done.

For any players who have not been released by their current teams, discussion between new teams and the players (or their agents) constitute tampering. Virtually everyone does it, primarily because no one ever gets caught.

Hi, I'm Asante Samuel. Pay me $ 100M. Did you see my dropped INT in the SB that would've clinched a SB win and 19-0 season ?????

He needs to put down the crack pipe with those demands. Thanks but not even close man, maybe the Yankees???

Personally I don't doubt that theres some truth to that. However I've learned over the years to take whatever PFT says with a grain of salt. PFT is known for putting a lot of stuff out there, all for the sake of getting readers. In my opinion they're the least credible source for football news and information as seen in their famous "Terry Bradshaw is dead" incident. The group also whines that people keep on steeling their "inside scoops" and if you look on thier website they are the least professional and objective source of information out there.

In all honesty, what kind of professional site has a section entitled "turd watch?"

Seahawks | Team offering Trufant six-year deal
Mon, 25 Feb 2008 23:10:50 -0800

Frank Hughes, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks are offering franchise free-agent CB Marcus Trufant a six-year deal worth less than San Francisco 49ers CB Nate Clements received over five years, according to league sources. Negotiations between the team and Trufant have stalled and may not resume until New England Patriots CB Asante Samuel signs and establishes the market for cornerbacks. The Seahawks were hoping to sign Trufant to a multi-year deal so they could free up some of the money tied up due to the franchise tag on Trufant. Sources indicated the team's offer was well below the $43 million Clements will earn in the first five years of his eight-year contract.

Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports a source close to the Detroit Lions said the Lions will continue to negotiate possible trades for DL Shaun Rogers until Friday, Feb. 29, which is the first official day a trade can be made. The team is looking for at least a second-round or a third-round draft pick as compensation for Rogers. Rogers is due a $1 million roster bonus and the team plans to pay that bonus whether trade talks are lingering or not and head coach Rod Marinelli said numerous times that the team will not release Rogers. If the team cannot trade him within the next few weeks they may wait until the 2008 NFL Draft to see if interest for Rogers is still high. The team would hold onto Rogers into training camp if no trades are made.

Broncos | Team tenders Foxworth
Tue, 26 Feb 2008 22:38:43 -0800

Lee Rasizer, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports the Denver Broncos have tendered an offer to restricted free agent CB Domonique Foxworth. The team has affixed a low tender to him, which gives the team the right of first refusal if another team attempts to sign Foxworth and they would receive draft-round compensation if he leaves. Foxworth was a third-round selection in 2005.

foxworth for a 3rd is worth considering. andre dyson is another cheap alternative at CB. though draftees like cromartie or tracy porter look pretty good too.
