it seems this year thers alot of free agents lbs ,more so then others pos. and teams relize this thats why there releasing players like zach thomas ,shawn barber ,dan morgon ,d.smith ,( and proberly ian gold too). t.suggs and k.dansby got fran taged but theres still some good talent left.lance briggs of course is the big name and will get the big contract , but the others proberly will get alittle underpaid just because theres so many options.whereas g's will get a ton of money agian ,because teams will be fighting over them.
the list of aviable fa lb i got include...
al wilson den ,calvin pace card ,t.burschi pat ,j.seau pat ,demo williams atl ,c higgins pitt ,b bailey det ,v hobson jet ,r boiman colt ,d clark tex ,j lenman det , b chiller ram ,n diggs car , k mitchell nyg ,c thompson clev , r tobar nyg , plus the ones i already mentioned above. so who do we get to pick up for rocky ,who even when he comes back might not play all that well. im counting him out for the whole year ,and does anyone know when m washigtons contarct is up? because who ever we bring in might take rockys place this year and washigtons next.
i like v hobson ,b bailey ,r tobar , demo williams and rocky boiman
i think all could get the job done and be relitivly cheap soultions ,whereas if we have money to burn it should go to dline or secondary. what do you guys think?
EDIT (legible version):
It seems that this year there are a lot of free agent linebackers, more so than other positions. Teams are noticing this which is why you see guys like Zack Thomas, Shawn Barber, Dan Morgan, Derek Smith, and Ian Gold being released. Terrell Suggs and Karlos Dansby have been franchised but there are still a lot of strong candidates available. I think because there is such a large supply, the demand may not be as high thus driving down the price; unlike offensive guard where we'll most likely once again see high salaries being doled out due to the limited talent pool at that position. Lance Briggs, of course, should expect to get a large contract as he is the top name out there.
Here is a look at the linebackers available in free agency
Inside Linebackers (http://www.theredzone.org/2008/freeagents/showposition.asp?Position=ILB)
Outside Linebackers (http://www.theredzone.org/2008/freeagents/showposition.asp?Position=OLB)
Now, even though Bubba Tyer has said Rocky McIntosh should be ready by July I expect him to be out for the year. And if he does come back he may not even play all that well. Couple that with the fact that I'm not sure of Marcus Washington's status, I think we may be looking at LB help to replace two guys on our current roster over the next couple of years.
Among the guys I like are Victor Hobson (jets), Boss Bailey (lions), DeMorrio Williams (falcons), and Rocky Boiman (colts). I think all of those options can get the job done at a relatively cheap price. Now, if we feel we have to money to burn then I think we should go after the defensive line or secondary. But considering our financial limitations, I would focus on a young, relatively cheap linebacker.
