It seems fairly obvious that Rock is going to move on and Randel-El is not the dynamic punt returner we thought we were getting a couple of years ago. I don't watch ANY college football so is there a Hester like player coming out we can pick up as a return specialist that will be worth the selection?

I wouldn't mind seeing Vinny spend a 3rd to get a game changing return man if one is still out there by then. Winning the field position battle with a good return game can be huge.

If you want a decent one, maybe, but a Hester like, then no way that late.

Mitch were 5th round picks once upon a time. Josh Cribbs was an undrafted free agent and Leon Washington was a 4th rounder, further evidence that even today, great return specialists can slip through the cracks.
Guys don't get drafted before the 3rd round on return ability alone.
Ted Ginn has some potential at WR and Hester was supposed to be a starter at Cornerback.
The last return only specialist I can remember going high is Jerome "Don't Make Me Choke a Bitch" Mathis. He was drafted in the 3rd round after running one of the fastest 40's at the combine ever.
He also made the probowl as a return man his rookie year.
I think there will be plenty world class sprinters we can use to fill the void.
Think Brown from a few seasons ago or Michael Lewis who use to be with the saints.

Jackson is the closest thing to Hester so far. I heard people say that Chris Johnson, RB out of ECU, is really fast as well. But if you have watched college football and want an electrifying and game-changing returner like Hester, Jackson is the one too look at.
Is desean Jackson worth a first round pick if he is only going to be a return specialist?
