But I have no doubt Matty was speaking about his attitude as a football player only.

I know, as I stated before I doubt that Matty was alluding to that. I just think that if anyone has right to bitch and complain its Coles. Anyway looking back quoting anyone and then writing that post was a bad idea. Breath-think-post. Anyway I edited it now so water under the bridge.

Interesting. I would tend to disagree, but interesting nonetheless.

I'm well aware of his personal stuff and my comment was in no way related to that.

Laveranues has a tragic past. He creates for himself a tragic present. A cadre of therapists would argue as to whether there is a connection.

The point of the original post was to remind Redskins fans who thought Coles got run out of town of the fact that Coles has created his own professional atmosphere, and when things happen to him it isn't in a vacuum. I wasn't trying to bestow upon him victim status.

What have I done ? I just wanted to stand up for Coles and bring attention to the fact that the guys been through a lot, I never wanted too accuse people of making fun of or being insensitve towards special victims. Looks like I opened a can of worms. For everyone that feels I accused them of victim bashing I appologize.

Maybe I should go to ES, at least there I can make fun of "Om's" smiley faces :(.

Yeah, I think maybe you assumed that none of us were aware of it. And the reality is that a lot of guys in the NFL have been through a lot. Have they all been molested? Probably not, but still doesn't take away from the fact that several players have been through hell or worse.

dirtbag, I dont understand why you are taking stuff so seriously. What Brudlee said was nothing bad. Any of the mods either, go back and read what they said. They explained their position without attacking you. We are the place for knowledgable fans, and with that comes members approaching arguments in a rational way that can be perceived to be mean/too blunt but is not the intention. I understand when 2-3 people argue against you it seems like they are jumping on you, but non of the posts were mean.

Also talking about ES, atleast here you can take shots at mods, see the other thread about Om banning a long time member because of a joke. I still dont understand why people think ES is more liberal.

You would almost rather have BL.....huh, that piece of shit hasn't even had A GOOD GAME IN DC in two years!

While I agree that the "crybaby" comments are relevant to the situation the fact remains that its slightly inappropriate. Coles was molested for 3 three years by his stepfather, so in theory speaking out against what Coles feels is wrong is actually a healthy thing.

I seriously doubt that you were alluding to this Matty but let it be known for everyone else that bashes Coles and calls him a "crybaby" that the guys been through a lot throughout his life.

Personal

In September of 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005), Coles disclosed in a New York Times (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Times) interview that he was molested by his stepfather between the ages of 10 to 13. Eventually the court became involved and American football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football) was a refuge for him throughout his pain. Coles stated that he came forward because "Even if it's one kid who I can touch, who my story gives him the strength to come out and say something, I feel like it's worth it." On October 18 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_18), 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005), his story was aired on The Oprah Winfrey Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oprah_Winfrey_Show).

I saw that show and I'm sorry I did'nt believe him ,Look I don't take that sort of thing lightly it's a very serouse thing and I heard what he said just sometimes things just don't sound right IMHO.
