Coles got a $13 million bonus in 2003, a $5 million bonus in 2005 and total base salaries of more than $9 million over the last five years, meaning he's averaged about $5.5 million a year since the expiration of his rookie contract while averaging about 950 receiving yards a season.
I think that bears repeating, because it sounds relevant to this discussion.

He's has $18 million in bonuses since 2003. He's made in excess of $27 million over the last five years and $11 million more is guaranteed for the next two. If he plays this deal out, he'll likely either be enjoying the fruits of a new CBA, or signing a deal during an uncapped year. Why the complaints?
Becuase he does'nt have a ring, and most likely never will.

Poor Coles. I liked him as a Redskin. I think he needed a good Doc. to fix his toe and stay off of it. In any event, didn't he leave the team bad mouthing the owner and organization? Didn't he say something along the lines of " I should never have left the Jets" also. Have fun Coles enjoy the team you should have never left.

coles was definitely a #1 here until his toe injury. ramsey and coles were leading the league as a duo when he got here... but after he got hurt, his production died.
Coles is always the victim.

While I agree that the "crybaby" comments are relevant to the situation the fact remains that its slightly inappropriate. Coles was molested for 3 three years by his stepfather, so in theory speaking out against what Coles feels is wrong is actually a healthy thing.
I seriously doubt that you were alluding to this Matty but let it be known for everyone else that bashes Coles and calls him a "crybaby" that the guys been through a lot throughout his life.
Personal
In September of 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005), Coles disclosed in a New York Times (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Times) interview that he was molested by his stepfather between the ages of 10 to 13. Eventually the court became involved and American football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football) was a refuge for him throughout his pain. Coles stated that he came forward because "Even if it's one kid who I can touch, who my story gives him the strength to come out and say something, I feel like it's worth it." On October 18 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_18), 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005), his story was aired on The Oprah Winfrey Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oprah_Winfrey_Show).

I think just about all of us, at least all of us that have been here the last several years, are familiar with what Coles went through as a child. And it's a horrible thing. But I have no doubt Matty was speaking about his attitude as a football player only.
