I don't know why the Redskins aren't considering signing Bernard Berrian from Chicago, who is going to be an unrestricted free agent, instead of toying with the idea of signing Chad Johnson. Berrian is 6-1, 185 lbs, and had some good stats this past season: 71 Rec/951 Yds/5 TDs. Keep in mind that this guy had the Grossman/Griese/Orton trio of mediocre QBs throwing at him, and he still performed better than S.Moss (61 Rec/808 Yds/3 TDs) or even Randle El (51 Rec/728 Yds/1 TD).
Berrian would give the Skins the tall possession receiver they've been craving and they wouldn't have to give up any picks. I think that a WR tandem of Berrian, Moss, and Randle El, along with Chris Cooley, would give the Redskins a solid passing game. Plus we wouldn't deal with the baggage that Ocho Cinco brings, nor worrying about shelling out tons of $$$. I hope that now Gibbs is gone, DS doesn't go back to his old ways of giving up picks at the drop of a dime.

Berrian is not a possession reciever by any means he is a speedster

I'd sign him in a second. How durable is he?

yep that's all plus he does demand a extra attention like CJ or a possession WR.

Berrian has had decent stats with mediocre QBs, I think he could do better with Jason Campbell. In regards to being a possession receiver, I'm not an expert on that, but Chad Johnson is 6-1 and 190ish lbs...and the Redskins are looking to get him. Granted that by no means I'm saying that Berrian is better than CJ, but he has the same physique, and could probably thrive with the Redskins and the WRs we have. I'm afraid that the Redskins are going to overpay and waste draft picks with CJ. I mean, New England only gave up a 4th round pick for a head case like Randy Moss, and had he failed, they only would have loss little. I think the Redskins, should they convince the Bengals, are going to pay a lot to get CJ, and it will be a catastrophe if he doesn't produce here in Washington.
Plus, come on, Berrian would be better than Jerry Porter (which was brought up in another thread) and would improve the WR corps.

Another thing, I think it would be great to get CJ, but it just seems impossible and if it happens, I'm concerned that redskins are going to start handing out 1st and 2nd round picks. I mean, just think that last year, we were very close to having the Redskins give away their 1st round pick for Lance Briggs, we didn't and we got Landry. I get the feelings that Danny is going to overspend/overcompensate for CJ.

Landry was a hit or miss like all college players are R. Bush hasn't lived up to the hype he got. Calvin Johnson to me is medicore in the NFL. It's a big difference from college to pro. They can be the heisman trophy and not starter or get picked until the 5th round (Troy Smith) but he was so good it college. CJ has proven to be a pro bowl cailber player every year not one not two every year and Benard Berrian has not.

I wouldn't say "give away" The rumored deal would have been a swap of first round draft picks (and yes I understand they had the 31st overall) plus we get Lance Briggs. We're not just throwing away the pick

Yeah and we were getting a pro bowl caliber player if Landry hadnt panned out everyone would be pissed that we didnt pull the trigger (even though Briggs will be here in 2 weeks)
