I feel bad for Byner, wasn't he working with Ozzie Newsome on personnel when he was with the Ravens? Maybe he could help out in that area.

I don't think this is horrible or great. It's plainly a sound move, and will give Zorn a proper venue to and more importantly an additional teacher for the running backs who will be learning a new offense. Plus it adds someone who Zorn has worked with for a while. I'm cool with it. mcarey032 02-12-2008, 10:56 PM I thought Byner had re-signed here? I heard that reported on 980 not too long ago. I guess that was wrong. calia 02-12-2008, 11:48 PM This is not a great move. Where's the love for Earnest Byner? The guy did an excellent job coaching for us, he is loved by Portis and Betts (and Rock, even though he's basically a special teams guy now). I am surprised that folks will so quickly cast him aside (for crying out loud he played for the Redskins, unlike Mitchell). So much for consistency. SmootSmack 02-12-2008, 11:59 PM Byner is one of my favorite players of all time. And I do feel bad for him. I wish there could have been a way for him to stay. But if he's not able to teach this offense as well as Mitchell then it's really of no benefit to keep him here. And there is often more than one side to a story htownskinfan 02-13-2008, 12:28 AM what i remember about stump is punching the goalpost after scoring,I think it was him freddyg12 02-13-2008, 08:05 AM I thought Byner had re-signed here? I heard that reported on 980 not too long ago. I guess that was wrong. He did, signed a 1 yr. deal. Maybe they will have to pay him if he doesn't go elsewhere. JLC said they were looking to 'trade' rb coaches w/seattle. So now that we have stump, maybe he's headed west. JoeRedskin 02-13-2008, 08:45 AM Byner is one of my favorite players of all time. As a first timer Zorn needs to surround himself was as many of 'his guys' as possible. The way EB's contracts have been handled differently than much of the other coaching staff (shorter in length, I believe, not extended in the same manner) you get the feeling someone didn't like his style for whatever reason even before the Zorn hire. MTK 02-13-2008, 09:00 AM Sucks for Byner but at the same time I think Zorn definitely needs a few of "his guys" around to help get his offense up and running. |
