redsk1 02-11-2008, 04:39 PM Fassel also wasn't shopping for the groceries in Baltimore. It's not his fault he was given Kyle Boller, Anthony Wright, and a no receivers to work with. He also took a Kerry Collins-led team to the Super Bowl in NY.
I don't dislike Zorn, but I think Fassel would have been the better hire. Remember, regardless of who we hired yesterday we had Zorn in the bag as OC. And OC in itself was a promotion for him. He could have devoted all his efforts to the offense and developing Campbell. Now both Zorn and the Redskins are in unchartered waters big time. I hope for the best and expect the worst.
I ask you, would we be better off with Fassel as HC and Zorn honing the offense and JC's skills, or with no Fassel and a guy who was a position coach 3 weeks ago running the whole show?
I agree. I was one of the ones who REALLY didn't want JF. Mainly because i was that much for GW. I slowly came around and thought it might actually be a good hire. Then Zorn. I have mixed feelings now.
I think much of Redskins nation kind of came around on JF, so I hope DS didn't eliminate JF as a candidate just b/c of the fans.
GusFrerotte 02-11-2008, 04:50 PM Snyder didn't have a choice but to take his time. Carroll told him to take a hike, and Fassel and Mooch were front runners, so not much to pick from. The Zorn pick was gutsy, but probably the only option he had with regard to the huge anti Fassel sentiment in DC. King is one target for once. Fassel went to the SB, was a successful HC in the division, and could have let Zorn develop JC. Now that development might be up in the air. I would hate for us to mess up another young QB's career because of a messed up coaching situation. Spurrier killed Ramsey, etc. Just hope JC heals properly and can learn yet another offense.
over the mountain 02-11-2008, 05:19 PM i dont think PK was bashing snyder or the skins but making a single common sense matter-of-fact point. Zorn, with all his quarterback coaching skills, will not be able to spend as much time with campbell now that he is the head coach and not the OC. he didnt say fassel would have been a better choice or that zorn was a poor choice.
go skins!
Dirtbag59 02-11-2008, 06:18 PM I remember some of you guys were asking about the reaction Reid got in Philly when he was hired. Anyway here you go....
Although he never has held the title of offensive coordinator, Reid played a major role in designing the Packers' offensive game plans and is considered very knowledgeable about Holmgren's successful offensive system. Reid was on Holmgren's staff in Green Bay for seven years.
While it is rare for a position coach to jump right to a head coaching job, Holmgren's assistants have an impressive track record. Reid would join Rhodes, Gruden and San Francisco's Steve Mariucci as former Holmgren assistants to land head coaching jobs.
"They've all done it, and I haven't done it," Reid said. "Do I think I can do it? Sure. I have a lot of confidence in myself."
Giantone 02-11-2008, 06:57 PM Peter King hit the nail on the head in my opinion
.....................word!After the way Snyder treated Fassel.......if you were a coach would you come to DC,not now.
Giantone 02-11-2008, 07:02 PM I am basically convinced that most media and a lot of fans will never ever look at something Snyder does and think it was done right when it comes to footbal. I am just so tired of all the complaining and bashing. I don't even care what PK says because I just wont read it. I am just done with the negativism. I am not defending DS but in the end he is obviously damned is does and damned if he doesn't on just about everything.
So you don't think Snyder deserves what he gets,I mean after all the work Joe Gibbs did in setting the Skins up to go on without him Snyder just threw it away, like it or not it's a slap at Joe Gibbs.Anything the press has to say about Snyder ........he earned.

A lot of it is not deserved. Plenty is based on media and fans speculating and jumping to conclusions, and making idiotic blanket statements like "No Gregg Williams means there is no continuity at all."
This is not to say Snyder is a saint. But few people ever consider that there are at least two sides to all stories. Snyder made a decision severaly years back to drastically curtail (and eliminate completely during the season) his contact with the media, because of the perception that he was too involved in the team. And now that philosophy has come back to bite him because all that's really portrayed is one side of the story.
schndr_tdd 02-11-2008, 07:19 PM Im sick of the bashing, just get over it.He is our coach give him a chance!!

it's no secret here that I think Joe Gibbs is one of the best coachs in history and I'm not bashing your new coach Zorn.........loved him as a player but Snyder deserves everything that comes to him and more. He'll change the color of the jersey's just so fans buy more and after what he did to that old Lady who had season tickets and lived across the street, made her walk just as far to catch a shuttle(pay for) to go to the other side of the stadium an walk in.She went to court and they found out he hire rent a cops and dressed them to look like PG county Police. She WON!
redskinsfanatic 02-11-2008, 07:34 PM i lost what little respect i had for fatass king when i saw him french kissing chris carter's ass the other night on inside the nfl about how should and should'nt(art monk)have made it into the hall of fame.who cares what that curly headed lardass says???
