fassell did'nt take the job for the same reason according to espn!
Funny, I wasn't aware that he was even offered the job. In fact according to Vinny, Zorn was the only candidate that was formally offered the job.
freddyg12 02-12-2008, 04:45 PM VC is not a talent evaluator, he knows nothing of how to really build through the draft, and I think that is probably the wedge that kept GW from taking the job, he probably wanted a say in how we attack the draft, but with Cerrato in there it allows DS to play GM as well, so GW wasnt going to happen, remember that was why Marty was given his walking papers after 1 season, because he wouldn't let Snyder in on personnel decisions. I also remember a quote right after Spurrier was hired, apparently he went up to Snyder to talk to him about the draft and Snyder told him to basically take a hike and just worry about coaching the offense or something to that effect.
So it was Danny's decision to bring in Weurfel, Matthews, Jacquez Green & draft Taylor Jacobs, all former gators?
Rajmahal33 02-12-2008, 05:06 PM What do you guys think about the skins FO in general? Without getting into specifics (about players and who picked them), I think over the past 5-7 years we have been below the league average in offseason acquisitions and drafting definitely. If you don't agree that we are average or slightly below, do you think the FO has been good enough to get a pass for our losing record over this time period? If not, I would seriously think that Snyder and Cerrato have to accept most (not all) of the blame for this failure. I don't know about you guys but it seems to me that the Redskins win football games in spite of their organizational structure not the other way around. I'm not saying that I blindly believe many of the allegations made by ppl on this thread but forgive me if i'm not skeptical of them or the fact that many good HC candidates did want to stay away from our vacancy.

I see one draft pick there, which failed, the fact is he went along with it, so no matter how you slice it Snyder loses. Either his inability to hire a qualified evaluator, or he is failing himself, take your pick. But I do believe he hired SS to begin with so the buck stops with him.

Was'nt that a book or movie,"The World According to Vinny"......Robin Williams or Joe Pesci(sp)
Veretax 02-13-2008, 12:31 PM This wouldn't surprise me in the least, but its also possible that GW was feeling stagnated here by the way players were being acquired too.

Your right it was Snyder who called back to back time outs. It was Snyder who droped those passes. It was Snyder who fumbled that ball against GB. It was Snyder who lost all those game when leading into the second half. It was Snyder who agreed to sign MB when Gibbs came back. Maybe its Snyder and the front off that should be saying "we gave you what you wanted. paid for the talient, and this is the best we get". Maybe thats why they took a month to hire the HC.

So your saying all those D players we have signed over the past couple of years for GW was Snyders mistake. Thats the biggest BS I've heard yet. Keep trying to find something better than that. Do I need to name the players we have aquired for him. Maybe name some of the players that maybe we let go because of him. Can you spell Pierce and we can just plug another player into his spot.
Longtimefan 02-15-2008, 09:32 PM It's rather difficult to imagine a man would interview four times for a job he didn't want. Not saying it didn't happen, just hard to imagine.
I was in great hopes that during to course of at least one of the post Zorn hire interviews with Snyder, he would actually tell us why Williams did not get the job.
Kelly Johnson interviewed Snyder on ComcastSportsNet two days after Zorn was hired, she asked him about Williams, and why he was not considered, Mr Snyder carefully evaded the question. So I guess we may never know why Gregg was by-passed.
However, Mr Snyder did go on to say Jim Zorn was the only candidate interviewed to cactually be offered the job.
Giantone 02-16-2008, 07:30 AM We are talking about Greg Williams right, you know the guy who has had a Redskin D in the top 10 (or higher) every season here but 1(I think)?
