onlydarksets 05-12-2008, 11:19 AM Profit margine is incorporates all asspects of their business. I'm sure they loose money in some areas and make larger profits in others. The bottom line is they make around 8 cents on the dollar.
It's actually around $.10 every year. Doesn't invalidate your point - just being accurate. The point is that the oil companies are maintaining their profit margins because we, as a society, have created a demand that allows them to maintain those margins. It is a bit of a cartel, since there are no alternatives presently.

firstdown 05-12-2008, 11:52 AM They can do a number of things... take away the super bowl trophy, take away more draft picks, financial repercussions... who knows, but I don't think that the league can have something that MLB is going through happen to them without a fall out from the fans... or atleast I hope some fal out from the fans.
Steriods are illegal but I'm not sure if breaking a rule of the NFL is considered illegale by law. My question was not what the NFL could do to the Pats but what congress could do to the pats. I don't think they broke the law only NFL rules which the NFL is responsable for not congress.

Congress cannot and will not do anything which directly affects the Patriots. Congress can, however, affect the entire NFL by attacking their exemption from antitrust laws. The antitrust exemption allows the NFL to negotiate television contracts on behalf of all teams, rather than forcing each team to do so individually. So, Congress can put pressure on Goodell to punish the Pats or face the loss of the antitrust exemption.
In any case, this is a dead issue barring new evidence of cheating. The NFL wants the matter to go away. The fans are, for the most part, bored with this issue. The Pats have been punished and that's that.
skinsfan69 05-12-2008, 12:25 PM NFL Network. I believe it's something like the NFL has alleged that Comcast moved the NFL Network to a less accessible digital tier after the NFL didn't give 8 games to Comcast's Versus channel and instead gave it to NFL Network.
Comcast sucks so bad it's not even funny. I'm so glad they're not getting my business anymore.
skinsfan69 05-12-2008, 12:29 PM the nfl wanted comcast to put it where ever they would get the most viewers, at the least cost. comcast is saying that since your charging me, to run to your program, im putting it in a sports package. where i can recoup my profit
That was the day I said enough of Comcast. They tried to charge me more $ for the NFL Netowrk. But what pissed me off was they tried to hide it with some bullshit package with networks they already gave you in the first place. Total bullshit. I'd rather they just be honest with me and tell me why they are charging me more money. Bastards. They're losing subscribers to Verizon every single day.
skinsfan69 05-12-2008, 12:31 PM Can someone please close the book on all this spygate nonsense. Enough is enough. It's over and done with. It's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo time to move on!!!
Dirtbag59 05-12-2008, 07:30 PM What are you talking about?
Well seeing as most people here live in the Washington/Maryland/Virginia area, seeing Redskin games on a weekly basis is no big deal. But for me it's a rare chance to see my team play in real time. So when I found out during the offseason that NFL Network was going to broadcast the Redskins/Bears game I was excited. Then the day finally came and like any other network NFL Network game they had the pregame show live on site, the players where warming up, and I was thinking man this is awesome.
Then it came time for the game to start but instead of the game there was this NFL Films presentation on High School Football, and I remember thinking maybe it's just a brief pre-game segment, I mean most games don't start exactly at the top of the hour, but then half and hour went by and I started to get ancy. I turned to the preview channel and the listing said "TBA". After a while I realized that I wasn't going to get a chance to see the Redskins game, especailly after seeing the gamecast on NFL.com.
Something like that would never happen with ESPN. I mean can you imagine a local ESPN affiliate broadcasting a rodeo or poker instead of Monday Night Football? I mean granted every MNF game isn't always what it's hyped up to be but still theres an expectation of the fact that you're going to get to see a game.
Ironically I have the same problem with Fox showing rodeo's with 5 people in attendance instead of a second NFL game, even if it's not a Redskin game, I'm still a fan of pro football.
With that said, I think it's about time the NFL developed a league pass to watch games online like Major League Baseball, if they haven't done so already.
SmootSmack 05-12-2008, 07:37 PM I'm up in Connecticut and I watched the game on NFL Network. I don't understand why it wouldn't be available down in Atlanta
hooskins 05-13-2008, 11:58 AM So I am watching these tapes on NFL Network, and it's the Bills and I think I see GW on the sidelines. Obviously we all knew about these violations but it is kinda interesting.
Also whoever taped these was kinda sleazy, because during the SD game tapes, the videographer spent a good amount of time on the cheerleaders lol.
Specter just won't let this die, I'm really wondering what his agenda is at this point. Talk about a waste of time and resources. Aren't there more important issues out there right now? Like I don't know, maybe the war, insane gas prices, and rising food prices?
