I agree with SS about Zorn doing both jobs if at least not a heavy hand in it. I think we are looking at Bugel or Grimm, local names who would accept a secondary role in the offense.

Russ Grimm or someone with West Coast Offense experience who gets along with Zorn to groom Jason Campbell in this system. It's worked for some of the best Quarterbacks to play in the NFL.

Former upper deck beer salesman Larry "Toot-Toot" Jones named OC"

NextLevelTalk.com • View topic - Congrats to Jim Zorn .. New redskins Head Coach (http://nextleveltalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12495)

This just in: Dan Snyder announces the hiring of his new Offensive Coordinator to go with his new head coach. Former upper deck beer salesman Larry "Toot-Toot" Jones will take over the reigns for the Redskin$ offense next season. Asked about his qualifications, a source close to the negotiations said "he was the only guy willing to take the job. As a matter of fact, he thought the interview was a free screening of 'The Hottie and the Nottie' Toot-Toot has no agent, but he is currently represented by his mother. Calls placed to a number listed in her name were actually to a Papa Johns in Glen Burnie. NLT News has been unable to find any contact information for Toot-Toot. More information on this breaking story as it becomes available.

Sherman Smith. However, I want Buges to stick around as "assistant HC" to run the line and run interference w/ Danny. Buges and Blache need to take Zorn under their wing. I think both of them are in a unique position to help Zorn because both have been around, are respected by Snyder and the players, and neither want to be a HC anywhere (let alone DC).

I think Smith wouldn't be bad. I like his experience with running backs and that "assistant head coach" title. Over all, I like what we've got in place. There is enough experience, that if they work together, it should be fine.

PS. I just sent a letter to Buges......I hope he has time to read it!

From what I've seen, the guy not getting an OC job in the past is a consequence of the Titans going after the sexy hire of Norm Chow. Then the availability of former Titans coordinator Mike Himradinger

Nolan Cromwell might be a name to consider. He was the WR coach with the Seahawks for the past several years before taking the job as the Aggies' offensive coordinator last month under Mike Sherman. But the Aggies just lost their defensive coordinator to the Cowboys yesterday so I doubt they'll be too keen on letting Cromwell go.

Wow, look what I found bisches. Looks like Sherman Smith is the man. Hopefully he takes advantage of the chance to prove himself as well as work as a control in balancing the offense, should Zorn turn into a crazy pass-happy play caller (though I doubt it). Either way Redskin 1 is in Memphis.

Sherman Smith and Stump Mitchell

Spoke to several more sources today, including some that know Zorn well, and all continue to say they expect Sherman Smith, an assistant head coach/offense, with the Titans, to be his top choice as offensive coordinator.

Zorn also remains interested in Seattle RB coach Stump Mitchell as well, sources said. If he cannot land Smith, Mitchell could also be considered for the OC job - he has a very thorough knowledge of the West Coast Offense, and, like Smith, shares a close relationship with Zorn.

If either was hired it would their first time as a coordinator, leading many sources who know Zorn to beleive the head coach would call plays on offense. Could be Zorn gets them both, with Mitchell the RB Coach in Washington, and there remains a chance Skins RB coach Earnest Byner could get an opportunity in Seattle if Mitchell came here.
