Herm Edwards went from DB coach to head coach of the Jets and had them in the playoffs rather quickly..

They were 9-7 before he got there. His first year (2001) they were 10-6, next year they were 10-6, 2003 the were 6-10, 2004 they were 10-6, and his final year they were 4-12. 3 trips to the playoffs in 5 years.
In KC he's been 9-7 & 4-12.

I wouldn't complain with three trips to the playoffs in the next five years. He was however, the DB coach & assistant HC in TB.

did you possibly post the wrong link? The article it went to was by Jose Miguel Romero. Not Mark Mosley.

I'd approve of the move if they had hired Kermit the Frog at this point. Well, the Danny DOES want a puppet coach...

Good read, indeed! I hope there will be enough Zorn to go around, he does have a full plate. It will be of key importance to get a couple coaching positions filled with guys that he wants to bring in that he has trust in OC/AOC, and I'm sure now a QB coach that hes worked with to help make this big transition as smooth as possible.

I have a feeling that one day Garret vs Zorn is going to be a great rivalry. Hope I'm half-right.

What are you talking about?

What a strange path to hiring a HC. That said, Holmgren's assistants have done very well as head coaches (Reid, Gruden, and Mariuchi), so I'm optimistic that Zorn will do well. Jason Campbell's development must be his top priority.

I think, (and I know a lot of people will disagree with this, and thats fine), that if we were OK with Zorn as the O.C., then we by neccessity have to be ok with this promotion. His role isn't going to be all that much different, and we were already talking about how the coordinators were going to overshadow the head coach. So now, one of them was made head coach. That's not really any big deal when you think about it.

If he wasn't ready for this job, then I don't think you can make the argument that he was ready for the O.C. position.

With that said, there could be some time needed for him to get a feel for his playcalling. As to say that his playcalling should improve as the 2008 season goes on.

Then again, there really is no such thing as "wrong" playcalling unless you consistently go against the percentages, which requires a general lack of common sense.

Basically at this point, I was willing to give anyone a shot. I wanted Williams, it didn't work out, so I stand behind Zorn and I'm going to hope for the best. I really think our offense is going to be in great hands, which is going to be awsome to see....I'm slightly worried about our defense at this point. We have some great players on that side of the ball, but I just hope we can maintain some sort of power without Williams.
