What makes you think he wasn't groomed just because he didn't have the title?

Well, considering he was a QB (9 seasons), then a QB coach for both the Lions and Seattle (10 seasons), and was inducted into the Seahawks ring of Honor in 91 (meaning he was highly respected), and he never got the title or moved up, I'd say he wasn't groomed.
Why would you think for a second he was groomed?

I really don't know what to think about this. On one hand i'm kinda excited and ready to move on. I really don't know anything about Zorn other than people saying he's pretty sharp. Then again alot of NFL position coaches are sharp, smart, prepared but that doesn't make them coaching material.

It really makes me think our organization is a clumsy as it's made out to be. It makes me think they didn't have a "list" of potential candidates ready (which they should have) prior to JG's stepping down. It took over 30 days and they go w/ someone they originally hired as an oc. Our FO wasn't prepared.

That being said maybe we wound up w/ the right guy. Hopefully our FO will be smart and try to build a good team.

Who is our new OC then?

Best check in the other thread for the speculation :)

I like this hire. Thankfully we will have a coach who brings a fresh perspective to the job, and not some recycled has been!

Didn't say he was. In fact, he probably wasn't since he wasn't promised anything after Holmgren retires (which is why we got him in the first place), but I do remember reading that he was very involved in the game planning and play designs for the Seahawks offense. And I'm just saying the assistant head coach title may have been largely ceremonial for Reid

That's not even out of the question, and scary quite frankly.
