freddyg12 02-04-2008, 02:13 PM mvp should of been tuck and no one else on either team earned it more in my opion ,and im a patriots fan too.
I would've liked Tuck to be mvp. I wish more defensive guys got it, but it's hard to single 1 out. I wonder how Tuck's stats compared to Richard Dent's when he got the mvp in 85-6 (also v. Pats).
freddyg12 02-04-2008, 02:16 PM Not sure I agree here. I think the Super Bowl win gives everybody a huge boost of confidence, and I can see those receivers shaping into a formidable group once they all get on the same page with Eli.
In fact, all of their "no name fodder" wideouts are basically young, so they probably have nowhere to go but up. Steve Smith has the most promise, and David Tyree showed he can come up big when they needed it most. Add that to Amani Toomer (who was the one receiver who gave Champ Bailey fits) and Plaxico when he heals up, and I'd take them over the Redskins receivers any day.
Their O-line is good enough, while Jacobs, Droughns, Cedric Ward, and Bradshaw get the job done rushing.
None of them are 'Superstars' per se, but they just proved that you don't need superstars to win the big one.
The g-men are not an explosive offense but they can move the ball enough. I think they'll be tough next year but will have some hard times. It will be a crazy fight in the nfc east. I could actually see any one of the teams winning it. I would imagine that a no. of writers will have us finishing last when camp rolls around.

My vote also goes to Tuck.
Defensewins 02-04-2008, 02:28 PM My vote was for tuck. 2nd choice would have been the entire D line of the Giants, 3rd choice Tyree.
Eli had a good couple of final drives in the 4th quarter, but he also threw several lame ducks that he was fortunate not to have intercepted. The one that went right through Asante Samuels hands, the throw to Tyree was lame. He had multiple late over the middle throws that were up for grabs. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.
Dogtag 02-04-2008, 02:34 PM There is a Murphy's Law that applies here:
"If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid."
BDBohnzie 02-04-2008, 03:09 PM Give me a TEAM of no-name guys over a collection of superstars anyday of the week and twice on sunday. Some may call Shockey a superstar or star, he goes down and the team comes together.
Kevin Boss will make everyone forget about Shockey. Same build, same pass catching ability (at least it seems), no baggage.
Richard Dent's stats from Super Bowl XX (courtesy of Wiki): 1.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 deflected pass
Monkeydad 02-04-2008, 03:10 PM Yeah he was down 4 and drove for a winning td pass to beat the 18-0 pats but he wasn't that good.
According to all Pats fans, it was pure luck and they're still the better team. :D
tdSKINS1 02-04-2008, 03:36 PM Ah if an MVP could go to a group it should have gone to the Giants "D" or if ya wanna solo guy to win it , then Tyree was the man. What a catch.. one that will always be remembered.
Hijinx 02-04-2008, 03:56 PM Eli did not deserve the MVP the D-line did. Fine just pick almost anyone on the D-line. Give it to Tuck for his 2 sacks and a FF, or Strahan for his leadership, whatever. The Giant did not win because of Eli, they won because of Defense.
Did anyone notice the the Pat only scored 14 points? That is the fewest they scored all year. Thats 23 points lower than their average for the year.
I know that the QB always gets more credit/blame than he deserves but can you really say anyone on the offense should get the MVP when the Giants only scored 17 themselves?
TheBigD 02-04-2008, 04:21 PM It kinda pissed me off that Manning got the MVP, I thought that he was the luckiest sob EVER for not losing that game. It seemed to me that on every throw he made in the 4th quarter, (except for one or two) he seemed to lean back, close his eyes throw the ball and pray that his reciever would catch it, and the overthow of Burress almost lost the game. I will give him props for fighting though, he got out of a few sacks where he should have been eating dirt. Even though I thought he should have thrown the ball away instead of scramble, I'm not going to complain about that point too much.Yeeeeeaaahhh....
I really hate the guy, no doubt about it, but you can't say he sucked. You just can't. He outplayed the so called "best QB ever to play the game."
