Skins, Mariucci meet: The Redskins have talked to NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci about their head coaching job, but don't expect him to get the offer. Everything seems to be the same. Jim Fassel is the leading candidate and should get the job next week.

As stated, I'm cool with either one, just passing along info for everyone to discuss.

Does this make any sense?

What does Fassel bring to the table for the Redskins?

That does it. I'm going to start a thread on who people are going to root for if the Redskins hire Mooch. Right after I make a bring back Ramsey thread.

Ok back when all this started....or rather when GW and AS were let go the names on the list were Fossil, Spag, Meeks, and Cowher. Maybe I missed a name, but I kept looking at the list of names and asking myself what does each bring to the table. I like Cowher alot but he does not want to come back so that leaves him out. Next:

I thought about Meeks....who is a Defensive coach....would he have the same phylosophy as Blache? do they run the same type of defense because if not then your going to get friction. Next:

Then I thought Spag....well ....not a bad choice but isn't this his first yr at being a OC? Then your going to make him a HC? Next:

Where am I...Oh yea Fossil....out of all those I like this idea best. Someone who has been around awhile and who is older then his players. He may have very good leadership qualities. I voted him. My question kept coming up though "if he is an Offensive coach does he understand the WC and has he run it before? I would hate to have a HC that has not been in the WC before and has no clue. The mill $ question is...is Fossil a WC coach? because if not then all he is..is a figure head. Someone to lead the team but not call plays. He will be a glorified motivational speaker. Because the OC and DC has already been picked this pick seems to be the best choice. Next:

Then the Mooch is named. I'm not fond of either Mooch or Fossil but you have to admit that Mooch fits better. He would get a good pay day. lol. He's more personable. He knows the WC offense and has been a coach in it for yrs. Since the defense is going to essentially remain the same and the offense is going to take the big makeover then it would be wise to get an offensive WC type coach to help teach the WC style offense to the players. Plus we would have two very great coach's to teach JC...Zorn taught Hasselhoff and Mooch taught Flavor Flave.

It all seems to fit with Mooch. Fossil does not seem to fit other then to revive his career and hope the team does well so he looks good in the future. If he tanks he can't say he didn't try. Now theres word that Fossil is the MAN. The only reason I can see Fossil being the man is because he's crying foul and Danny knows that he does not hire Fossil this time he has burned his bridge for any future thought of him being the HC of the Skins. Where as if he hires Fossil and he is a dud he can always go after Mooch or Cowher or overhaul again with Meeks or Spag. In other words you can't give a coach two interviews for the same job years apart and turn him down both times and have him say "Hey if you ever need me I'm your man, Danny Boy." This being said Fossil will be the man even though I don't like it. I hope People continue supporting the team but maybe show are dislike toward Fossil by constantly booing him on game day. Perhaps hurt DS in the pocket book by not purchasing new Skins gear. Maybe....Maybe for one game possibly the first seasonal game no one watch it on tv. Low ratings would send a message. Something the reporters could speak about.

Can Fossil lead us to a SB. who knows. but I sure as hell can't find anywhere on the net where it says he is a WC type HC. Nothing to make me go oh....he will be great for the job he know the WC. Oh he also learned under Walch in SF so he can add some credibility to the offense. Unless I'm wrong and someone can find somewhere on the net where Fossil is a WC type coach then I have to lean considerably towards Mooch and if Fossil is hired then wonder why?

Spag is their D coordinator.

While I think I'd slightly prefer Mooch, Fossil won't be that terrible. I'm not sold that Mooch is totally out of the picture (just like I thought GW was still the head man the day he was fired...). NFL radio said that sources around the league said Mooch was talking to his ex-assistants around the league and asking what they were doing now and if they'd be interested in rejoining him.
