Marks my words, Zorn will be great for us if only Campbell understands this offense. I really believe that we needed a fresh face to run our offense. This guy has never called plays before so no one can really gameplan for him yet. I just hope that he brings that MIke Holmgren offensive gamplanning with him. Holmgren is a genius on offense. It also helps that he was a quarterback before in this league.

Don't think you'll get much of an argument here, the prof however will be in the pudding.

well Campbell needs work on his short passes regardless of what "system" he's in...so hopefully Zorn can help him work on that
According to his wiki profile he was the OC at Utah St. from '92-'94 so I'm assuming he's called plays before.

Just hasn't called plays in the NFL. I think he'll be a good OC and will for sure help JC

I have to admit I worry if this new system is going to be a good fit for Jason. Even if he adjusts to it, will a strict west-coast offense really exploit his strengths (big pocket presence and a rocket arm)?
Of course, we really have no idea what kind of system is actually going to be implemented. Since Campbell's development is clearly such a priority for ownership, you have to assume Zorn impressed on them that he will streamline things for Jason.
The biggest problem with Saunders was that he didn't do that. As good as his system looked with Collins running it, the fact that he seemingly didn't adjust it to suit Jason is just as big an indictment of his performance as OC here, imo.
I really think Zorn will look to cater the offense to JC's strengths. I don't think anyone runs a true WC offense anymore. It's come so far down the tree now that everyone is running their own hybrid type of scheme.

How good the offense is all depends on how well Campbell plays. Part of that will be Zorn designing an offense that Campbell can succeed in, but it's mostly if Campbell can become into the franchise quarterback that we all hope he is.

Exactly, I don't think Zorn and Fasselucci (whoever it is) is coming here to recreate Jason Campbell. This will be his 4th season, not a rookie still trying to get his feet wet. Young veteran QBs are expected to pick up the system and make plays. We've seen, when given the chance, JC can put up some strong numbers in the passing game.
I think Zorn will go heavily with 3 & 4 WR (with Cooley being split out in the slot or out wide counting as one of the WR) open up running lanes for Portis, unlike the clogged schemes we saw the past 4 years, and run a more vertical WCO.. The Pats, Cowboys, Packers and Giants showed that an aggressive, vertical passing game is the way to be successful in today's NFL.

JC needs to step his game up also..Opt out of the night at the bar or club and learn your playbook....stop dumbing down the book..you're a professional..Go Zorn
