Excellent point...another coincidence?

I think most importantly he's worked closely with Blache in the past. That's the main connection to look at here, not one with Mooch. Though it is something to take note of.

This guy is hired "in principle"
ESPN - Brooks agrees to become Redskins' defensive line coach - NFL (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3220038)

Its just interesting because its another coaching mooch connection, while there are very few with Fassel or others.
Speculation is fun.

I disagree. People say Gregg grew and changed a lot as coach and a man in his 4 years under Gibbs. Apparently, especially after the 2006 season, he really dropped his "my way or the highway" attitude. And it's no secret he was frustrated at times this season with offense's conservative nature. I think he would have allowed it to open up and take some pressure off his D. Jason Campbell is no Rob Johnson.
How do you know he was fustrated with consevative play calling this year?

Wouldn't the obvious answer to all this lead to a coach that is currently under contract, and has already voiced his choices for a staff to Snyder so he can line them all up in advance?

If so, I would suspect it's an offensive minded coach, since a new offensive coordinator was brought in, while the defense, apart from Gregg Williams has been left intact by the front office. That's why I don't think Mooch is under serious consideration.

If Mooch gets hired, we'll know we were wrong on this one. But I'd bet heavily on Fassel or Schwartz.

Fassel I understand, but why do you think Schwartz is still in the running?
Isn't he a defensive guy?

No, it doesn't.

I see your point that Snyder may go for someone he initially targetted if someone is already under contract and is making these moves under cover.
I just don't believe that is realistic since he is still interviewing.

But one of his points was he didn't think Snyder would hire a defensive guy because the staff hasn't changed much other than Williams.

The real question here is Zorn's light experience on offense.
That is why most think Snyder will go offense....otherwise Meeks and Schwartz would be the big talk vs Fassel and Mooch.

Truth is, we dont know, but I haven't seen much chatter about Schwartz recently

Truth is, we dont know, but I haven't seen much chatter about Schwartz recentlyTo me, that's one of the big reasons he's still in it. Theres not a whole lot of chatter around him and Fassel right now, but Snyder went to talk to Carroll, theres Mooch, and Meeks is getting another interview.

My theory: if you are getting attention from the Redskins during this week, you probably aren't the guy.

Redskins met with Schwartz on Friday in Tennessee and I believe they might have spoken yesterday as well. The Titans offered Schwartz a two-year extension though and I think he accepted it. But if he didn't, that's a whole other story
