I saw it on my lunch break. They really didn't say anything insightful.

Rome's voice alone drives me nuts.

The skins are under criticism for good reason. Hiring coordinators before a head coach isn't typically viewed well. HCs want to hire their own staff, which is very understandable.

That's part of the reason I feel like we already have a HC< we just haven't announced them yet.

They clearly already have a coach and it's most likely Fossil. I think if it were not for the fan backlash that Fossil would already have been introduced. i think they are letting the fan anger subside and when they think it has they will introduce Fossil. Snyder is a afraid of an embarrasing display of fan anger so he's waiting it out until the right time to install his puppet into place.

Well Pete Carroll showed that he does indeed have brains. He would have been a fool to leave USC for Redskins Park. He is a god at SC while he probably would have ended up like Spurrier did here. I don't think any of these assistants, no matter how good they are as assistants, are going to take us anywhere soon.

Those guys are idiots and that is the worst sports show on TV. I caught Clayton on Mike and Mike (one of the few guys out there who doesn't seem to have some kind of personal vandetta against Snyder) and he gave a much more balanced answer. He said the move suggests, as Dasael pointed to as well, that a coach is all but decided. He pointed to Fassel since these are, in his words, Fassel's guys, although I have to wonder if he read JLC's blog yesterday. Clayton continued that if they don't have a candidate in mind as of yet then it's a much more questionable move.

So basically let's all wait and see how it plays out before we start listening to Jay Mariotti and Woody Paige.

Only way the hiring of these assistants beforehand makes any sense is if The Danny has his man and these guys are who his new HC wants. If not this was a very risky move to say the least. What happens if the new HC doesn't work well with the new hires? We will find who it is out next week after the SB I am sure.

If it's Fassel, then why hire his staff before announcing him as head coach? Why not just hire him first? What's the hold up?

If it's not Fassel, and whoever they plan to hire had no say in who his coordinators are going to be, what does it say for who really is in charge of this team when the coach has no power in player personnel, has no power in his preference for a defensive coordinator, and has no power to determine his offensive coordinator?

The whole thing makes no sense.

Well all we know is that Fassel liked the idea of Jim Zorn, and so did Gregg Williams, so Fassel isn't going to give Snyder any grief over that. I'm also assuming that promoting Greg Blache gives the defense continuity and giving Fassel more freedom to work on the offense without worrying about the defensive side of the ball.

If you think in terms of Snyder's thinking, this is a great thing for continuity. You keep most of the coaching staff intact and sign Zorn who everybody appreciates. Fassel can come in just working away with the offense. He doesn't have to worry about taking time to put a team of coaches in place. All he has to do is jump in. If Fassel doesn't work out, then you can cut him loose and find another coach willing to work with this coaching staff. Plug and play until you get the right fit. This is Snyder's thinking. If works, then I think it's great, because none of us really want to see this team blown up again. If it doesn't, this team will probably be blown up regardlessly.

I made almost an identical post yesterday. I think of the two or three candidates left, all of the hires going on would be approved. Meeks and Fassel both apparently think very highly of Blache and Zorn. Interesting to note that all coordinators/assistants hired would fit under Mooch as well.

But at the same time, why on earth are we waiting? I posed this what if question yesterday: What if Spagnuolo and/or McDaniels totally blow away Danny in their interviews, but want to clean house as far as the assistants and coordinators are concerned? Waiting for the Super Bowl to end to hire a HC despite filling up other positions makes no sense to me.

I think the answer to that would be that Spagnuolo and McDaniels are young, hungry and so eager that they would accept the situation as it is. The idea being, that they don't have much bargaining power -- they'll have to deal with what's already been set up. Otherwise it's either Fassel or Mooch, who by all accounts approve of the coordinators we have so far.
