Carrol had his Steve Spurrier nfl moment in the late 90's with the Patriots...he did a bad job with the team and the local media ate him up...with transitions at OC and DC I would like to see our new head coach come with some viable nfl expirience.

He did coach the Jets, for one year. Then he got fired. He does have "viable" NFL coaching experience, 16 years as a position coach, coordinator, and head coach. I would not be overly enthused if he were to become the Redskins head coach, I also do not think it is very likely that The Danny could persuade to leave USC. Who would want to leave SoCal, and one of the best jobs in football to come to DC and work for Snyder?

He coached the Patriots didn't he? Didn't have too bad of a stint in New England.
I wonder how long these talks even were.
Snyder: You still looking for full control?
Carroll: Yup
Snyder: Late

Carrol took over a team that made it to the SB in 96..coached 3 years and left them on an 8-8 note..with a 1-2 playoff record. Not terrible, but following Parcells the general opionion around here in N.E. was he was let the players run the show and lost control of the team which went 5-11 the year after he left. Thats what sticks in my mind when I think of him taking over as a HC in the NFL again. Maybe he could have success in the NFL if he ever did leave USC..I wouldnt get too excited about a Carrol hire tho
