GW leaving bites it.

Hard.

Silver lining: At least we hired from within instead of going outside. Blache has been with us for a while a he had good defenses when he was in CHI so, it can't be all that, right?

So if this process comes to bringing a better team to the table and the Redskins make the playoffs again and make it even further, how do you ladies like your crow served? Well done, stir fried or al dente?

I'm not to disappointed with Willaims leaving I never really thought he was head coaching material myself, I think he seemed kinda stubborn and thought a bit much of himself. And for whatever reason him not telling Joe about the 10 guys on the field thing just left a bad taste in my mouth

Well, Mike Wise's article pretty much sums it up. We did 'em dirty. If Snyder didn't want him around he could have at least been dignified about it. I'm not saying I don't think another coach can be successful here, but this was handled poorly. GW deserved better from the Redskins after what he's done for us. I'm embarrassed about this one.

I think there are one of two possibilities as to what exactly happened.

1.) Snyder knew if he let Williams go he'd be a hot commodity and probably snatched up by some other team looking for a head coach (Falcons maybe), and most-if not all-of his new contract would still be paid for by the Redskins. So Snyder left him hanging until all other jobs were taken.

or

2.) Snyder and Williams have never had a strong relationship, made worse over the past couple of years. Yet Gibbs served as a buffer to the two of them. And once Gibbs left, the two of them (Williams and Snyder) knowing that Gibbs wish apparently was for Williams to assume the reigns tried desperately to make it work. Hence the three or four very lengthy interviews. But ultimately their differences were simply too much.

It was my understanding that when a coach is fired, they only receive the pay guaranteed by their previous contract when they do not get a job elsewhere. But if they sign another contract, they then are paid only by their new team.

I would go with the second theory. I think they both tried their hardest to get along, but in the end they just couldn't come to a compromise.

I think it was an issue of pride for the both of them in the end.

Actually, yeah I think you're right.
