Did any college coachs get hired this year? I dont think so right? Saban and Petrino pretty much put a sour taste in the leagues mouth. When Pete Carroll interviewed in Atlanta I knew he wouldnt take it, hes like a god at his college and doesnt have to work near as hard.

I think the NFL has definitely soured on college coaches for now.

Watch us hire Pete Carroll now...

Seriously though, some college coaches are getting picked for assistant positions such as Atlanta which just hired the Gamecocks LB coach (I think) to be their defensive coordinator.

actually, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Carroll was announced as head coach. If it's true that Fassel is feeling manipulated & GW might not even take the job if offered, the danny is running out of options.

If those crazy eyes can't scare the entire team into winning I don't know what will.

LOL do the fans really know what they want?? I mean let's be serious. The fans change their opinions week to week, hell play to play sometimes. One week Jason Campbell is a hero, the next week people are saying Collins should be starting. One week Portis blows, the next week he's the man. If the fans got what they wanted, the team would be an absolute joke. Players would get cut on a weekly basis, and we would replace a kicker who was 29 of 35 this year because of one missed kick in the playoffs.

Fans are too emotionally wrapped up in the team to make rational, meaningful decisions. I guarantee this love for Williams would die pretty damn quick if the team opened up the season 0-4 and went on to have a miserable season.

Fans opinions go up and down all season, but the one big picture thing that nobody wants is for the Skins to operate like they did before Gibbs came back.
This is a playoff team, we don't need to be gutted and overhauled. I agree 100% with Boswell's article this morning, and hope Danny reads it.

this is one of the reasons this franchise has been viewed as quite disfunctional. You have everyone, players, gibbs, retired players, analysts, experts all saying how much support they have for GW (analysts and experts are important) knowing we are/ where headed in the right direction. to finally get back to respectability in the NFL and the front office is trying its damnest to alienate its fan base, coaches and players. Its like Dan just can't sit back and let things go, he always has to have his hands into this team. He is the owner, i understand that, but the best decision to keep this team on the rise, keep players happy and playing hard is not to alienate them, make them feel like employees (which we formed a redskin Family this season) and make the right hire in GW.

its going to come down to no one wanting this job. GW is going to get pissed and feel disrespected,as is fassell (who cares) and just walk away from it. Plus, what coach in their right mind would take a job that they can't pick their assistant coaches. Isn't that part of being the head coach? This thing of looking for offensive coaches and defensive coaches is ridiculous. how can a head coach be successful when they can't even hire the guys they want and know how he likes to run things. makes no sense to me.

Yeah, seriously. Picking assistant coaches is usually outside the bounds of a GM's duties, much less the owner for God's sake. Danny just wants to be like Jerry Jones, which makes me want to cry.

From today's Washington Post

washingtonpost.com (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/24/AR2008012403212.html)

"Snyder and Vinny Cerrato, the team's executive vice president for football operations, spent Monday and Tuesday attempting to contact and interview assistant coaches Fassel wanted -- league sources said they included Baltimore's Rex Ryan, Seattle's Jim Zorn and San Diego's John Ramsdell -- but contractual stipulations precluded all but Zorn from interviewing."

I hope this puts to rest the notion that they are going after assistant coaches without the potential head coach's consent. Although it's interesting to note that the other day the Post also indicated Zorn was wanted by Williams.

I don't know why they even bothered talking to the Chargers. Norv isn't going to do the Redskins any favors.
