SmootSmack 01-23-2008, 04:10 PM What I don't understand is what do people have the bigger gripe about? That it's not Williams, or that it's Fassel?
Because you hear people preach "continuity" but then say well it's ok if we hire McDaniels, or Cowher, or Coach Lubbock
12thMan 01-23-2008, 04:10 PM I will NEVER jump off the Redskins bandwagon, but, if true, I don't like the move. So pretty much the entire coaching staff wants GW, the players wants GW, the owner preaches about the importance of continuity, and yet we hire a new guy who will likely fire many of the coaches and want to make significant changes to the roster? I can't quite follow that logic.
The only way this move will make sense is if Williams and Saunders remain on the staff as the defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively.
Even if they remain, you would just have to think the environment would be a bit stifling under those circumstances. Two of you interviewed for the same job, and the new guy get's it? Naw, that 'aint gonna fly.

It's both. The whole thing is just rubbing folks the wrong way. Fassel is perceived to be an outsider. And there's something about what the Skins endured this season that transcends business.
I don't care how many stats people post about Fassel's career, there's nothing...nothing...that blows me away about this guy. It's almost like Snyder..and I'm not a Snyder basher, by the way....is leaving Williams high and dry.
SmootSmack 01-23-2008, 04:14 PM It looks like the Skins contacted the Seahawks earlier this week to interview their QB coach Jim Zorn.
Here's more from JLC's blog: Redskins Insider (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/)
Jim Zorn would be a very nice addition
irish 01-23-2008, 04:14 PM This would be another stupid move by a broken/disfunctional franchise. For some reason the Skins feel the need to use evryone else's cast off and reject coaches insteading of bringing in a new coach and letting him prove himself. I cant imagine the results would be any worse than they have been.

So you think the choice should be neither Williams nor Fassel, but rather someone like say...Jim Zorn
redwagonskins 01-23-2008, 04:18 PM thanks for the info.
and for, u know, shooting down the biggest upside i saw in this whole rumour. (that being, the co-rumour that ryan may be coming with fassel) sigh.
My bad, brudda. Many apologies.

What do you mean by this?

The only way this move will make sense is if Williams and Saunders remain on the staff as the defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively.I feel almost exactly the same way.
My only difference is that while I'd like to keep Saunders, if he does leave and we bring in a new OC who has a better system for Campbell I'd be happy too.
I want what seems best for this team and Fassel, who could be a decent coach again, does not seem like the best coach out there.
