The fact is, you don't know that he's not Snyder's #1 candidate right now.

while you're right we dont KNOW that...I would say that that's one of the things we can guess at pretty clearly

LOL, yeah we could always just keep guessing. That is pretty clear.

When Boswell speaks, I always listen. He's earned that, for sure.

Still, I wonder about this part

"Some wonder if the Redskins already have burned their bridges with Williams, who specifically came to Washington so he could learn to handle people -- and smooth the edges of his blunt personality -- by exposing himself to Gibbs's influence. If you worked for four years as one of the central architects of a business, yet your boss still needed to interview you four times, including one 10-hour marathon, to make sure you were the right person for the job, would you feel wanted?"

Why aren't we asking how much did he learn in terms of handling people, did he smooth the edges of his blunt personality, what reasons beyond leading a top defense are there for him to think he should feel wanted to lead the entire team, what are Williams' visions for the team anyway? I'm not putting blame on or absolving blame from anyone here, I just find it kind of curious that no one (not Gibbs, not Snyder) ever, in the past four years, said-like Vermiel did with Martz, like Dungy apparently now with Caldwell-this (Williams) is our guy when the time comes.

Not "we're happy with him" or "continuity is key" but something more concrete.
I never heard that Williams came here because he wanted to learn how to handle people. I think he made that up. Williams came here because of the $$$$$$ and because of Gibbs name and history. Now has he learned from him over the past 3 years? I'm sure he has but I just don't think that why he came here.

If Gregg Williams was some other team's D-coordinator instead of ours, he'd
probably be Snyder's #1 candidate right now.LMIS, You have captured the essense of the Snyder regime in one sentence - brilliant!

For The Danny, there will always be players and coaches elsewhere that have more "sizzle" than his own. For this reason, we will probably never have long term stability like most great franchises. Joe Gibbs was our last/best chance at building a stable organization since Snyder was more patient with his failings than past coaches.

What a duff. He has an un named source which is saying just about what Gibbs said yesterday. All he is doing is taking Gibbs time table of two weeks and coming up with the conclusion that they want to interview coaches from the Giants and Pats. I guess it took his tough investigative work to figure that out but he ends the peice by covering his a$$ by saying Snyder could do something else. WOW, maybe I need to switch jobs.
