how much of this can you blame on Gibbs? He really gave no notice. I have a hard time believing that he is "consulting Snyder to act in this way

I think Matty makes a good point regarding the possibility of GW possibly screwing things up, if by screwing things up he insists on a GM coming into the mix. If GW says he wont take the job unless a GM comes on board and Snyder is insistant that hinm and Vinny can do the jo then Snyder has a right to look for another HC canidate that will act as a puppet

The fact is Snyder can't win no matter what he does.

Why is that so? Is that because him and GW probably just can't work things out? If GW wants to much control that he doesn't deserve yet, so be it. He's not the guy plain and simple. People will just have to understand that and get over it. I would love to see GW as our next HC but if he wants to much control, SEE YA! Hes not ready and does not deserve it.

But do you then just settle for FOSSIL, and think thats a good idea? I don't, continue looking for a better candidate. IMO its not FOSSIL NO MATTER WHAT, Dans just settling on an old used up has been!

I think the media are pissed off that "dumb shit" and "viet cong" are being so secretive that they are just trying to put pressure on them by reporting this kind of garbage.

Lol conspiracy-like theory. While it would be entertaining to think that is the case, it is most probably the fact that JLC and is running out of information to keep his blog up with the demands he is getting. That's why you report a smaller thing and blow it up to seem like a big deal.

Gives him time until a coach is hired and makes the fans feel better.

Hasn't Snyder learned his lesson with hiring ex-Cowboy or ex-Giant coaches or players. The Skins don't need their cast off garbage.

I disagree. As professionals you have to put that doubt aside and do your job. If you get phased by something like coaching rumors you should probably not be working in the real world.

It time to take the diapers off kids.

Thank you

Have you given any thought to the fact that maybe GW is the one screwing things up?? Or is Snyder to blame no matter what the circumstances. Does Snyder need to bow to any demand that GW has in order to maintain "continuity"?

I dont know if GW is screwing things up, no one really knows that. I am going by what the NFL people are saying. which I think the majority of us are going by. The fact the players are wanting GW for continuity, familiarity, schematically should say something. Gibbs has endorsed GW for the next coach. again, this is hearsay, but a lot of NFL execs are questioning why he hasn't been named coach. Some feel that GW and Ceratto dont see eye to eye, so maybe thats it. But when the whole team, coaches, and hall of famer Gibbs feels this would be the best hire for the organization it is kind of hard not to feel it would be a mistake. I think a lot of us here want GW as the head coach. Me personally, am tired of taking 1 step forward, and two steps back. We did that after the 99 playoff season, then after the 2005 playoff season and i believe we would be taking a step back after this seasons playoff run by hiring someone from outside the organization.

Professionals, huh? This is simple personnel management. You don't send people off to do important tasks who are in danger of losing their jobs. Are they going to focused on the task at hand or are they passing out their resumes? These guys haven't dedicated their lives to this organization and their loyalty will only go so far as their next paycheck. If it has to come from elsewhere, then so be it. That is the real world.

So my question is, do you all think it's true? I mean, have we immediately reverted right back to "laughingstock" ways with the way we're handling this search? Was the announcement of Cerrato's promotion poorly timed? How could Snyder "accidentally" say Cerrato will have final say on the roster?

This is a circus IMO. And not just because we didn't hire GW.

Resignation leaves Snyder with decision*-*-*The Washington Times, America's Newspaper (http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080109/SPORTS01/143843668/1005/SPORTS)

The players now hope Snyder will embrace Gibbs' example — that continuity counts — and promote assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams. They lauded Williams for his work as an assistant and endorsed him to replace Gibbs. But Gibbs would not publicly endorse Williams despite getting numerous chances, and Snyder gave no insight about the upcoming search.

I still don't see how they are not professionals. A non-professional would not be scouting at the top tier of the sport.

People in other jobs have to work their asses off when there are imminent layoffs. Do they complain, and get "hurt"? No they continue to work their asses off, and if they get fired it sucks but that is the REAL WORLD.

If you can't deal with that kind of stuff then don't work for the Redskins. Simple economics IMO.
