**Rumor** about GW, Rogers, Jansen [Archive] - Commanders Post at The Warpath

I answered it, and got no feed back. They take this as fact, and from what I can see they trust this guy. I responded by questioning, why would the Redskins cut Liegh now. They are signing every bum, out there and they are going to cut, a young speed demon, prospect, that they relied on heavely at the end of the year. Unless he told Snyder to go F*** himself, I dont see that happening. What do you all think. Take it FWIW: Ok so this is what my source just told me...I was on the phone for about 30 mins and this is everything I was told. First things first Gregg Williams is expected to be annouced as HC on Monday(ish) or sometime next week ... I asked about Saunders...and was told that was a 50/50...Gregg was unhappy with alot of the play calling last season so he may want to fix things offensively... As for the Defense: Expect most of the players to stay...Macklin will most likely be released and Leigh Torrence may as well... This came as a shock to me but Springs will probably still be here next season because I was told that the outlook on Carlos Rogers was not good...Trainers are not optimistic on him coming back next season because he has lost so much muscle in his legs from the surgery and he is still limping around quite abit... ... His contract would eat up more salary cap space in 2008 if we cut him than if we keep him on the roster. Only decent back up we got is Heyer, if we release Jansen which means we will go to Heyer unless we are planning to get a T thr FA? Actually, I can say I can't blame GW for planning to draft CB this year.. We draft a good rookie and use Springs to groom him.. By the time Springs is gone, we would already have good cb along with improved Fred Smoot and healthy Carlos Rogers.. Which would solidify defense for years and years.. Also Schneed is dead on with Jansen - makes no sense to cut him now with no savings on the cap and also with depth at tackle so darn thin right now Jansen is needed. Wouldn't it make more sense from a cap perspective to take the hit with cutting Brandon Llyod this year than taking the cap hit from cutting any other high priced player on the Redskins? backrow 01-20-2008, 12:18 AM I take it FWIW. We will need a CB in the near future and we can get a good one with the 21st pick. I would like to see a DE but i think we might be getting a CB. Carter we were still in need of 2 DE's to increase our pass rush. We are way behind in this category. IMO you build along the lines before drafting little guys. Good pass rush= good pass defense.
