Anyone care to make a bold prediction on this season results....?

I for one have high hopes, but only for the Skins to improve from last season. I see no run at the playoffs or anything better than 8-8 or 9-7.

Here's my take on the season:

QB - Brunell will start, but not finish. Ramsey will debut & not finish. Hasselbeck will come in & light the fire that sends the Skins a winning streak no better than 3 in a row.

RB - Portis should do well under Coach Gibb's system. However, I still see the line failing to open wholes that Denver bulldozed last season. So look for Portis to hit 1000+ yrds this season with a lower yards per carry avg. Rock should also improve upon last season under Coach Gibbs. Not sure if Chad figures into the mix, besides punt returns...

FB - This is Coach Gibb's favorite position, also see TE desc. Gibbs uses the FB/H-back to open the running game, fight the blitz, & a QB's last option if he decides to run for it or thrown a quick out. Not sure who's going to be that guy yet...?

WR - So far I see Rod having a great season no matter who throws him the damn ball. Coach Gibbs has made good WR's great with his staff in past seasons, so he will make Coles & company very effective. Does anyone remember the Posse..? I sure you all do :)

TE - In Coach Gibb's system the TE is nothing more the a utility lineman with some offensive plays designed to utilize deception.

O-line - Well with Jansen out for the season. The O-line will certainly have to adjust. I'm sure Brunell has some concerns now that his stone wall is not there..? I like Wiley & Thomas to help out in Jansens absence. Kenyatta is also someone that might be effective.

Defense -
Rather than single out positions, I will just say this....

D-line is unproven & overmatched. LB's will have to provide the majority of the pass rush & run stop. I like the secondary, but I'm not banking on Lott & Bowen to keep us in the game late. Taylor will show flashes of excellence, but this is a rookie & mistakes are expected. Smoots & company will have a good season, but with oversized WR's like Owens the secondary will have it hands full. Note: When & if Taylor plays to his hype we will finally have a S that WR/TE/QB/RB will fear :FIREdevil

Well that's all I have for now....

Let me know what you all think...???

10-6.

Gibbs bends the team to his will and they perform beyond their talents.

Bugel gets the most from the O-Line and Portis runs wild.

Our D secondary becomes the most feared in football, WR's don't want to go there.

We make the playoffs only to go out in the first round due to dubious calls from the men in black and white.

10-6. But only if Portis is injury free and Jansens' replacement can get the job done. And only if there's no more injuries to the Oline.

10-6, 9-7, or 8-8. I'll be happy with any of those results. 9-7 seems more realistic to me though.

Brunell will start, but I think Ramsey will eventually play and play well.

O-Line will step up without Jansen, but they will stuggle at times.

Taylor. Like I said before will be the rookie of the year. Overall defense will improve and surprise a lot of people.....yes guys I am serious.

Portis will have another good season.....hopefully over 1500 yards, and 15 td's.

Gardner will step up and have one of his best seasons. He could be one the top possesion receivers in the NFC. Coles will be Coles making big plays and provide a spark for the offense.

Last but not least.......WE WILL SWEEP THE COWSHITS THIS SEASON!

I see 9-7. It's year one of Gibbs Pt II and I think it will take some time for the players to really get what's going on.

Offensively I expect Brunell to start, but Ramsey will play at some point and play well. The offense is really qb friendly, see Schroeder & Rypien, and Portis will continue to dominate. I think the line will be fine, we will miss Jansen but I think it's a chance for the unit to play better as a whole.

Defensively, I think the d line is solid. We will definitely be better against the run, and if we become a better tackling team then I see us being a top ten defense. If Dallas can be the #1 defense with Ellis and Ekuban, then we can do it with the guys we have. Sa'alvea did a credible job Monday night, we add Noble to the mix and suddenly you have a pretty good tackle rotation. The back 7 are stacked, Springs will have two tds this year on picks.

I think it's important to stress that this is a new system for these guys & coach Gibbs will be playing catch up this entire season.

So going 8-8 would in my eyes be perfect. Anything more would be amazing.

I'm looking forward to Coachs 3rd season & when I think we will be in position to really challenge for a championship. :thumb:

Honestly, I am thinking playoffs. Maybe not deep into it, but I'm thinking we go this year. We just have way to much talent and too good of a coaching staff, in my opinion. I do think the fact that its a new system is gonna hurt us though, so we'll see. If we go 8-8 or 9-7 , as long as its a soild season I'll be happy. Not some B.S. 8-8 like in 2000.

Gibbs puts the onus on special teams, defense, and running the ball.

With the respect he commands and the discipline he demands, I think this is a basic (but often neglected) equation that leads to wins.

10-6 all the way.

I love that nickname - the Cowshits. That's hilarious.
