Redskin 01-14-2008, 06:49 PM We both lost, but they were the number one seed. Sure there was more excitement lets say in our season never knowing and fighting to get into the playoffs and probably more satisfaction knowing we got there with all that happened. That being said the Cowboys were the number one seed no matter how they won there games. But they are two different seasons and so close to one another the way they ended that I dont think you could say that one is better then the other
GTripp0012 01-14-2008, 06:50 PM So you're saying (and I'm just asking for clarity) that because of how we finished we '07, we have more to be encouraged about in '08/09?
But from top to bottom, the Cowboys had a better 2007 season?
Is this a silly argument? Not necessarily because of how we finished, but how our depth proved to be quality in the face of insurmountable injury.
Next year we get those injured players back, and have every right to think we will be a better team.
The Cowboys had a very lucky year, but didn't get it done. Next year they will have a lot more adversity to contend with than they did last year.
So if we proved anything this year, it's that we could roll with the Cowboys in the future, it's just that circumstance prevented us from doing so this year.
redskins411 01-14-2008, 06:55 PM It was about the same in my opinion but no one can call us chokers. Dallas had dreams of the Super Bowl and disappointed down the stretch. The Redskins season was full of ups and downs.
Cowboys all the way.
They played great most of the year.
Most of their players has career years.
They gave their fans alot to cheer for.
I'm proud of this years team but they did underachieve the first half of the year.
They blew too many games in the fourth quarter.
Injuries, Injuries and More Injuries....
Most importantly, A wonderful young man lost his life this year. Btw, He was a pretty good football player too.
The Redskins finished strong and I am proud of them, but 2007 was not a good year to be a redskins fan or player.
sancho2613 01-14-2008, 07:19 PM I would have to say the Cowboys for the most part. They finished with the franchise best record and they didn't loose a great teamante and coach. I do feel that the way the redskins handled it and came out playing for Taylor was AMAZING and I thought that at the end of the season the Redskins had a better chance of getting farther into the playoffs then the Cowboys. So it's kind of hard because like i said what the Skins did was amazing but i'd have to give it to the Cowboys because they did have a lot of accomplishments (records) and they had a bye week. The biggest reason I would think they had a better season was because they didn't loose anybody special and I think it would be hard to say the Skins had a better season when they lost a great player and a HOF coach....
SmootSmack 01-14-2008, 07:20 PM I have a hard time thinking we could have lost Sean Taylor to a senseless murder and claim to have a better season than the Cowboys.
Just looking at the 2007 season they had the better season
But big picture, so much depends on what happens moving forward. Will we carry our run (sans Seahawks) into next year? Will Campbell emerge as a Pro Bowl caliber QB? Will Glenn and Owens return to the Cowboys? What about their coaching staff? How will Romo respond to two consecutive grueling losses in the playoffs?
coggs 01-14-2008, 07:42 PM You can look at it from two ways. First, d***as had a better record, won the division, and was the top seed. So, in that regard, yes. If you view at from expectations, than no. Outside of this site, noone expected the skins to be a factor, but many had d***as going to the super bowl from day 1. Throw in the fact that they rallied to make the play-offs, the sean taylor tragedy, and you have to say absolutely not.
WillH 01-14-2008, 07:45 PM Id have to say the arguments for the cowboys having the better season are more convincing, but that obviously we finished stronger. What is encouraging going forward is that we nearly beat them twice this year despite the woes the skins went through; and the first game when we lost they were at the top of their game while we were hobbling through the middle of an injury plagued season. This definitely suggests that we can play with these guys. Not only that, but we can play with the Giants as well. It will be interesting to see how these three teams progress in the next few years. As SmootSmack alluded to there are alot of questions going forward, so it is hard to tell who will be the best in the NFC East next year. Hell, you can't count out the Eagles either; who knows, they may just bounce back. But at this juncture, I like our chances, lets just hope we're healthy next year, and can pickup where we left off against Dallas.
Dallas had 13 wins, that's a very good regular season. However, they certainly did not live up to the playoff expectations that come with a 13 win season. Anytime you lock up the #1 seed anything less than the Super Bowl is a disappointment.
The Skins making the playoffs was a bit of a surprise. Not many were picking them to do much this year back in August.
DCborn 01-15-2008, 03:47 AM No way ...07 was a great season for the Skins...They let a few slip away, but in the end was in the hunt. Dallas believed their own hipe...."Best next the Pats."..lol they were not even near that good.
