Seattle is only good at home.
Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!celts32 01-13-2008, 12:04 AM Seattle is only good at home. GusFrerotte 01-13-2008, 12:11 AM Lambeau in January? Come on folks get with it. A west coast team from the weakest division in the NFL comes in and gets its butt kicked by the Pack. Newsflash guys..... The Packers are used to playing in very cold weather, plus they were way better than the Redskins this season. If we played Seattle at Fedex we would have had a better chance of winning just because of the cold alone. We basically pulled a '05. Came on like gangbusters in December only to run out of gas in the playoffs. Our D isn't as good as '05 so we couldn't rely on it to win a game on its own though. All the Pack- Seahawks game showed is how much work the Front Office and new coach needs to do to get us to the next level. The team rallied around itself due to the ST tragedy, but ran out of gas in the playoffs, when emotion alone isn't going to win squat. Before our nice little run in December, this team was really mediocore. Seattle got us at home and beat us up in the last 12 minutes of the game. A total collapse on our part. It all doesn't matter anyway. Pats look like they already have it wrapped up. GusFrerotte 01-13-2008, 12:13 AM Why was I benched? 70Chip 01-13-2008, 01:38 AM Seattle is a completely different team on the road. Without the head start the crowd noise provides for their defensive front they lose a big edge. The footing further negated their speed. I asked and someone pointed out that of Kerney's 14.5 sacks, 10.5 were at home and 3 were against the lowly Rams who also play on a fast track and who lost most of their O-line this year. And of course today's loss made Seattle 3-6 on the road for the year. I wouldn't read too much into it. redsk1 01-13-2008, 09:18 AM It shouldn't be news to anyone on here that our oline, while decimated by injuries, was not very good. Compare our team to what GB did or what Jax, NYG, NE, do on the oline. There are holes to run in w/ these teams. CP had a good year w/ an average to below avg oline. Defensewins 01-13-2008, 10:21 AM The snow and the weather had very little to do with it. After reading this thread I went back to look at both of the games I DVR'd (Redskin vs Seattle and the GB vs Seattle) and noticed one huge difference between what Green Bay did and Redskins did not. The Green Bay tightends and FB blocked the shit out of the Seattle LB's. In our game the Seattle LB's were flying all over the field and in our backfield on most run plays. In the Green Bay game the Green Bay TE's and FB controlled the Seattle LB's. On some of the long GB runs the Seattle LB's were getting the snot knocked out of them with some great blocks. Our TE's are not known for their blocking prowess. Cooley is a great receiver but not a great blocker. Cooley fans please do not get upset. The only really good blocker we have is FB/H-back Mike Sellers. We need to look at drafting or signing a TE or two that can knock people backwards. DiehardSkin88 01-13-2008, 10:32 AM No way in hell is redskins 05 defense better then this years, thats bullshit. Plus, when we had them at home we didn't get beat up in the last 12 minutes of the game...... we won.. SBXVII 01-13-2008, 10:37 AM I belive we did better two years ago because Gibbs offense was run set up the pass. The blocking was better for that reason. Al's offense I thought I read in the post or somewhere is pass set up the run. Blocking is definitly an issue. I'm not sure if giving total control to Al is the answer or not. I'll also whine and say I belive Seattle's CB were grabbing arms and waists on a lot of the plays and hittng our WR beyond the 5 yrds. No penaltys called. I kept thinking about the Patriots and how the rule was made because of them and Seatle was doing the very same thing. I guess the best team won though. I'm glad they lost. I hated their fans comments. holcknowsbest 01-13-2008, 10:45 AM heyer is fine, i think he should start there next year and move jansen down inside to left guard. then you have booker, kendall, and a rookie as your backups. but with fabini, kendall at guard i dont know how you thought there would ever be that much room to run esspecially since neither of them is particularly athletic. we are at our best when our guards are pulling and we are getting to the edges, or even running those inside traps and zones that cp can hit going downhill. but you have to have good guards in order to do that. green bay has an awesome line if you ask me and they are young. really justifies them playing those rookies last year and letting them learn on the fly. playing at lambeau and in seattle are two different things though. tough place to go play when its snowing like crazy and the crowd is mad. I was surprised Yoder wasn't in there more to block. Cooley was absolutely misused/abused early in that Seahawk's game by being made to stay back and help block |
