Chad Johnson Wants Out of CincyMeks 01-16-2008, 02:05 AM i say get him. ^ and randy moss was the biggest steal of the decade... even based on a single season. rk3025 01-16-2008, 09:48 AM If Jackson comes to Washington so will Johnson as he really missed him in Cincy this year Thanks SmootSmack. Bernard Berrian definitely had the best season of these guys with 951 yards 5 TDs recieving, the year before he had 775 yards 6TDs, and he is 27. He doesn't seem like a bad option - the only downside really is that he isn't very tall at 6'1, but the need for a tall receiver is questionable, especially considering he had 47 first downs. Not too Shabby Bryant Johnson seems like he also might be worth giving a shot. He hasn't broken 600 yards receiving yet in his career, and he hasn't scored many points, but look who he is playing behind. At 26 years old this 6'3 216 lb WR might be a good option as our #2 or #3 WR. One thing is for certain, we need to replace Brandon Lloyd. I like Caldwell and McCardell, but how much longer will they be with us? We need a young prospect at WR that could eventually become an impact player for us. We may be able to put this off for another year, but I think that we would be testing fate to go into the season without another talented young WR waiting in the wings just in case (God forbid) Moss or Randel El get injured. Do you think we can afford any of these guys? Are any of them worth investing in? Are we better off trying to develop Mix or a someone on the practice squad? Should we consider looking in the draft? Monkeydad 01-16-2008, 01:13 PM What a nightmare to have to cover T.O. and Johnson at the same time... What a nightmare to have to share a locker room with those two together. Neither one would want to take a backseat or share the spotlight. afredskins06 01-16-2008, 01:39 PM I would take Ocho-Cinco in a heartbeat, he could change...we've seen T.O. morph, kinda, could you imagine him, Moss, Randle El, and Cooley on the field at the sametime.....a secondarys worst nightmare. EARTHQUAKE2689 01-16-2008, 01:39 PM I doubt the Redskins will pick him up. Dan Snyder doesn't pick up idiots like Chad Johnson that brings drama to the locker room and acts like a moron on the field. No thanks. explain how chad is an idiot and brings drama. SFREDSKIN 01-16-2008, 01:48 PM As of right now, the Lions are asking for at least a #2 pick for RW, allegedly. Pats got Moss for a 4th That would be a bargain for someone like Roy Williams considering he still fairly young. If we spent a 2nd rounder on the draft for a WR we wouldn't get the experience and talent proven by RW. Moss was cheap because he didn't produce in Oakland and the baggage he carried. tatrave 01-16-2008, 01:48 PM I would love to have Chad on the Redskins. Think of it...Chad running down the field, even in covered he still has alost a foot on every other defender in the NFL, and Jason sees him, TD Redskins. We NEED a receiver Jason can consistently throw too down the feild. It will give Jason the much needed confidence he needs and open up the running game because the opponents safeties are forced to cover down the feild. I say go after him. SC Skins Fan 01-16-2008, 01:55 PM explain how chad is an idiot and brings drama. This is the perception that caused Johnson to shun the Cincy media this season. He's a character, and seems generally likable, but you get some shots of him and Carson Palmer going at it on the sidelines, or him talking about his next touchdown celebration, and he is viewed as a locker room cancer. Let's be clear, Chad isn't Pac Man Jones, he's never destroyed a locker room or alienated a QB like T.O. or Randy Moss, he's never been sent packing a la Keyshawn in Tampa. He's outspoken, that's what he is, that is his game. I wouldn't have a problem with him in D.C. if there weren't the issues of draft pick and monetary compensation. The bigger issue it seems to me, and I bring this up anecdotally without having examined all the statistics or pouring over game tape, is that Johnson is more of a deep threat who is sporadic in his production (as deep threats tend to be) and who is not a guy who consistently moves the chains and he doesn't (I don't think, could be wrong here) score a lot of touchdowns in the red zone. Certainly he is a bit bigger than Santana, but is his game really all that different? Wouldn't the Redskins be better served by someone like (and again you'd have to think about the issues of compensation) Roy Williams or Larry Fitzgerald if either came available? As someone said above, if Hue Jackson does end up as OC then I could see the possibility of Johnson landing in D.C., for good or ill, go up. afredskins06 01-16-2008, 02:23 PM Do we have any cap room to afford Chad?? lespaul 01-16-2008, 02:26 PM The Enquirer - Zimmer: I'm tough (http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20080116/SPT02/301160034/) Lewis rejects Chad trade talk. |
