I don't think he will be either (though it's not a terrible choice). I think he will be Assistant Head Coach
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too.

May the Schwartz be with you?cpayne5 01-10-2008, 04:17 PM I don't think he will be either (though it's not a terrible choice). No disrespect to Coach Gibbs here but realistically gibbs was "out of the picture" kinda once Al Saunders came in. Coach gibbs was the middle man for the offense with the power of veto over saunders but for the most part i believe Gibbs took somewhat of a back seat to the play calling once Saunders came in.... I think this is obvious with the 5-11 season in 2006 (saunders 1st year) So in reality, the point i'm trying to make here is: Saunders offense has proven to be effective I believe this is evident in the last 4 regular season games. Cambell went down (Gibbs "boy") and Collins came in (Saunders "boy") and tore it up. Gregg's "D" has also proven itself to be effective so I think that Gibbs decided that it's time to take his bottle of gule home with him because he's done his job and "glued" this team together. Gibbs is a brilliant man and I really don't think we'll see the fruits of his labor until next year and beyond. I know, I have this posted in another thread.... Schneed10 01-10-2008, 04:18 PM My bet is GW as head coach, Schwartz as assistant HC - defense. See my questions above posed to SS. It's not making sense to me. Redskins_P 01-10-2008, 04:19 PM My bet is GW as head coach, Schwartz as assistant HC - defense. I hope you're right. MTK 01-10-2008, 04:19 PM To who, GW as HC? Then why the initial interest in Cowher? Why didn't GW get promoted immediately? And why would Schwartz interview for a lateral move? And would the Titans even allow the interview for a lateral move? Who said the Skins were ever seriously interested in Cowher other than pure speculation from the media and fans? It wouldn't be a lateral move when you take into account the title, Assistant head coach - defense. SmootSmack 01-10-2008, 04:20 PM So who's the HC, oh great one? I suspect that once some matters with Williams are ironed out (if they are ironed out), he will be the head coach and Schwartz will be his numero dos. But I don't know everything 70Chip 01-10-2008, 04:22 PM Who said the Skins were ever seriously interested in Cowher other than pure speculation from the media and fans? Soon we'll see "Super Duper Almost the Head Coach in Waiting Oh He's So Close He can Almost Taste It - Defense" Schneed10 01-10-2008, 04:22 PM Who said the Skins were ever seriously interested in Cowher other than pure speculation from the media and fans? Re: the first question, La Canfora had "league and team sources" cited in his blog, saying they were very interested in Cowher. Could have been wrong, but JLC doesn't get his scoop from Pro Football Weekly. He's got connections. Again, they could have been wrong. The assistant head coach title thing would irk the Titans. They'd say it's basically the same position and raise a stink over the Skins using a straw man title to skirt the rules on asking for permission to interview. I think if he was coming to interview for Assistant Head Coach - Defense, you'd hear some squawking out of Tennessee. stone 01-10-2008, 04:23 PM Who said the Skins were ever seriously interested in Cowher other than pure speculation from the media and fans? MTK 01-10-2008, 04:24 PM I've always been amazed that the league allows the Skins to play these word games. Soon we'll see "Super Duper Almost the Head Coach in Waiting Oh He's So Close He can Almost Taste It - Defense" I'm pretty sure other teams do it as well. They have to protect their guys somehow I guess. |
