I completely missed that post you sneaky bastard. Why we aren't discussing this pontential issue that we don't really know about(wink wink) I am unsure. I say let him buy the groceries as much as you let the previous chef. "If it aint broke..."

Seems JLC has come to his senses a little on this.

Have any players on the offensive side of the ball proclaimed their respect for Williams?
Anyhow, I still think there's just one small (not so small?) issue keeping Williams from getting the job. If that's resolved it's his job. It not, Schwartz is one of the better (best?) alternatives.
Snyder could pick Jesus himself to coach and people would complain that he didn't hire God as his GM
Randel El openly endorsed Gregg Williams on News 4 a couple of days ago. Before that Phillip Daniels said players on both side of the ball "hope it's Gregg" Williams. I think everybody player I've seen interview has strongly hinted that management listen to them this time around.

There's a little more to it than that, but you're on the right track

LOL
You know I'm kind of torn as to what I want. For salary cap reasons, we need a guy who will keep the roster intact and employ the players we have, which probably means it makes most sense to retain a lot of the existing staff. That makes GW the best choice.
But then if Gibbs is involved in the decision, and is telling Danny that GW is no good, then I definitely trust Gibbs' judgment when it comes to evaluating coaches. If there's ONE thing Joe Gibbs is good at, it's surrounding himself with people who'll help him succeed. If he thinks GW is simply a good coordinator, then I am on board. Likewise, if Gibbs endorses Schwartz (or anyone else for that matter) as a good and complete leader, then I'm good with the decision, even if it means gutting the current roster and rebuilding.
But if Gibbs isn't involved, and Snyder's just doing whatever the hell he wants, then I'll be upset. If Gibbs is telling him to hire GW, and he's saying nah screw that, I'll be ever so pissed.
Schneed, to add to your 1st paragraph - P. King reports that Schwartz read "Money Ball" & has a degree in economics from Georgetown. King made it sound like this is a big part of his value, as if he could help a team manage the cap or at least make prudent roster moves. If he subscribes to Billy Bean's money ball ways, he's a guy that believes in low cost high value draft picks rather than expensive free agents.
Just wanted to point out the possibility that maybe Snyder is changing his approach 180 & Schwartz is a candidate for salary cap reasons.
I really liked King's description of him, sounds like a good manager.

I think LDS is tasting all 57 flavors instead of the flavor of the week this time.
Maybe Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry just aren't doing it anymore for him.

I think you are buying into the media hype too much on this. Honestly, we all know Snyder. Every single one of us knows that if Snyder wanted Cowher so bad that either
a) Bill Cowher would have been introduced today as our head coach at a salary of like 12 mil a year
or
b) everyone would know that Cowher turned down Snyders offer of 12 mil a year because he didn't want the job.
Snyder does this. He makes it happen and he makes it happen now when he wants something.
The only thing stopping him now is the Rooney Rule. I honestly think this looks like they are trying to appear like they are taking this "process" seriously. Why in the hell would Snyder ever in a million years hire a basically unknown guy who is a disciple of an heir apparent he already has? Snyder doesn't do that. He makes sexy signings not understated signings. That aint his bag baby.
But GW is not a sexy signing.
You might be right on getting too caught up with the "source" reporting at this stage. JLC is right in saying that the players and fans would erupt in hysterics if GW isn't even given a chance to interview.
I was in no way suggesting the interview process is going to exclude GW. I was merely saying that people who think Schwartz is here as a candidate to become our DC are off-base. He was here as a legit candidate for head coach.
