I'll miss Gibbs' humility. It's a rare thing in today's 'look at me' society.

Truer words have not been spoken.

I still can't believe he's really walking away.

I don't think we should bring in Cowher. In fact I'm 100% against it. Cowher would want to bring in all his own assistants, and who knows what kind of personnel changes he'd want. Continuity is vital to this team. Just listen to the players. All the interviews I've seen today have had players endorsing Gregg.

In my opinion, hiring Cowher would be discounting all the work Gibbs did over the past 4 years. We have a ton of talent, and save for a murder and massive rash of injuries, we could have won 3 or 4 more games this year easily. We're not a mess as a team. Far from it. Snyder said today how appreciative he is of Gibbs. The best way to show that appreciation would be to NOT blow up and start over. The players ultimately win and lose the game. We have good players. And they want Gregg.

When Williams was in Buffalo he was less experienced, and didn't have the caliber of players and assistants that the Redskins do now.

Danny, show your appreciation for Coach Joe by continuing to embrace the foundation he has laid.

100% agreed - I hope we don't see Cowher on the sideline any time soon. As far as players showing support for GW, I'm pretty sure I did not hear anything from one player in particular: Clinton Portis. I know this is jumping way ahead but all this may bring CP's days in DC to an end. GW has shown little amusement at CP's attitude and I believe some guys have mentioned that Saunders prefers Betts running.

Thanks for the recaps--couldn't catch the presser. I'll try to watch it later on skins.com, though it's pretty depressing!

Thanks Coach Gibbs, for all you've done for the skins family!

After watching the press conference, I feel quite a bit better about Joe leaving. I guess I just needed to hear from him that he didn't think he could handle the physical demands of the job. I can't be too upset about that.

I also am glad he still wants to have a presence within the organization and wants to help them finish what they started. Even if it is only in a advisory capacity. I guess it gives me some sense of solice knowing that he's still looking out for us.

Ok, i just got to watch the whole presser on the official website and... IMO the Danny is still a douche.

When asked if he will go to the players directly for input going into the hunt for a new HC Snyder, w/o hesitation, said he already knows how the players feel about all the coaches and just about everything else. Right

I also believe I saw his eyes glimmer when the reporter asked directly about contacting Bill Cowher.

F!!!

People sure make a lot out of eye winks and glimmers lately. Snyder is a "douche" because of a glimmer, Arrington is returning because of a wink...

I think Joe Gibbs is an honest man. If he says he needs to retire because of family matters, I believe him. He's a very devout man to his family and to his faith. Certainly, I believe there was a higher calling for him to coach the Redskins this time around than just winning games. But, I also believe him when he says he is sticking around long enough to see the work finished. I think he'll do just that.

Snyder is a douche because Snyder is a douche. I've heard much worse said of him on this board many a time.

I don't know where the Lavar rumor is from. How old is that guy again?
